Harlem is collapsing all over the place. We’re still trying to figure out if it’s God or Man’s fault for some of the recent destruction. Two sites, one being a street, the other being a building, within earshot of each other both collapsed this weekend with little fanfare or even a blurb on NY1 news. After the jump we provide the pictures that make you question whether you’re looking at Harlem or Beirut.

First up was a building at the corner of Bradhurst and 148th streets. The building was abandonded and no one was believed to be inside. But something did not go according to plan during its demolition phase and it came down like a house of cards on someone’s poor mini-van and on the city’s traffic signals.

A coherent homeless man claims that the building collapsed around 1:00pm on Saturday, which an on scene police officer later confirmed. The homeless man also claims it was the contractor’s fault and not the results of Friday’s weather that construction workers claimed.

Right up the ridge from Bradhurst St. is Edgecombe Rd. where a sizeable sinkhole is developing quite nicely. Area residents noted they just saw the street open up on Sunday morning. They claim that workers were there all last week digging for some reason or other. There was a bulldozer right next to the hole that appears to be itself teetering on collapse. It is barely being held up by its own giant mechanical arm.
