Ok, admittedly we don’t know jack about feeder cables and transformers or pretty much anything that has to do with keeping this city powered up, but we do have the common sense to know that water and electricity don’t mix well. Which makes this photo of a Con Ed worker in Astoria being tossed a bottle of water while standing in a manhole overflowing with important looking wires and cables mildly disturbing. With one of the hottest recorded days in NYC set for today coupled with Con Ed uncertainty about its ability to provide continous power, this photo just doesn’t put us anymore at ease. Now imagine being an actual Queens resident.
