Although they always have the best intentions, these new ads by Amnesty International created for the Eastern European urban landscapes, made us think more of NYC’s poor Con Ed workers than it did wrongly imprisoned international captives. Even with its gritty veneer, captivating imagery and the not so easy to read tagline, “Thousands are held prisoners for their beliefs in places worse than this. Write until you free them all,” this ad is unfair swipe some of this City’s most important utility workers. If heading into a manhole is as bad as prison, how do they feel about the garbage men?
