miniaturka.jpg There’s a new building in an “emerging area” of Bushwick proper that is already being coined “the next great hipster haven.” The eight unit building that’s “big on design” is located at 979 Willoughby Ave., corner of Evergreen. Shockingly, studios are starting at $399K, 1BR’s at $465K, and the top of the pile, 2BR triplexes starting at $688K. That’s a bit pricey for this section, especially with the lack of brownstones and considering that most of the ‘Bush’ is a sprawl of three and four story vinyl sided structures. Sure there are a few notable buildings on Bushwick Ave. but not nearly as many in neighborhoods like Bed Stuy, Fort Greene, or the Slope.
One way to look at this area is with a historical perspective:
Commented Robert Scarano, president of Scarano Architects, “To design a new building in an emerging area, one cannot help but feel like a pioneer during the early days of the development of America.”
Yeah sure Rob, you’re a modern day Daniel Boone.
