final_onguard_.jpgNothing’s gonna stop a bike from being molested, especially if you’re nuts enough to leave it out overnight on the streets of NYC. However, these OnGuard skewers are good for those replacing quick releases on their commuter or delivery bikes. These highly designed skewers do make it harder to steal the saddle and wheels, not to mention being far superior to the DIY method—hose clamps with an inner tube covering—which can easily be dismantled and makes changing a flat a bitch. The Onguard’s are sleek and can only be opened with a special ratchet key offering the convenience of quick releases with the security of thieve-confusing unopenable bolts. As mentioned though, nothing can ward off the bandits after the witching hour.
