I think all of these internet tough-guy, douche bags have way too much to prove. I only built my "fisher price my first fixie" about 4 years ago. Yes, Fisher Price's "My First Fixie" is what I would imagine those guys who apparently OWN fixie "culture" would probably call it if they had half as much wit as they have ego. I've since built 6 different bikes, some to keep, others to sell. One of them was even a very expensive period correct vintage 70's Raleigh that rode great but looked even nicer. I'll bet before I sold it at some point, some shit neck hipster, ex-messenger, current broke ass, PBR swilling, lazy ass fucking barista or 10 year bar back career having, wishing he was half as tough as he tries to look so he could be a bouncer at his favorite metal venue so he could sit around and fail miserably in his attempts to get laid by talking at some white trash bimbo about his vast knowledge of all 27 different sub genres of hardcore which he wishes he could participate in making and probably could if he had a shred discipline, gram of talent or spec of original thought rolling around his vapid skull saw me on it, and overwhelmed with jealousy swore my daddy bought it for me. Truth is I work my ass off in construction, make good money and have no problem spending it on any of my numerous hobbies which keep my life full and happy and even keep me from judging or even concerning myself with the existence any "poser" I see on a bike or carrying a guitar or carrying an art portfolio. Oh wow wait, that's right, sometimes I even copy other people's ideas when I build because it looks like a good one and I want to see how I like it. I guess that makes me a follower of these so called "NYC fixie trends". Gosh I hope some day I'll have enough tattoos to hide my true poser-ness.
