Kentucky Bourbon Tries/Fails To Be ‘New York’

Maker’s Mark recently plastered Grand Central Station with NYC-themed posters—it’s a subway advertising technique called “station domination.” (Belvedere currently has re-dominated the Broadway/Lafayette station with their Terry Richardson-lensed, Vincent Gallo/blowjobby garbage.) It is not a cheap media buy, but it can create quite an impressive ad spectacle; or as is the case with these Maker’s Mark executions, a hugely annoying spectacle. To the badly-forced anthropomorphism! First (left), awww, how cute, the overpriced bottle of hooch is busking for unneeded cash, mocking our real, poor underground musicians, who then take their real hard-earned money and buy more affordable hooch (well, some do). Those red wax arms are just fucking pathetic. Second (right), MM trots out the tried and tripe Lady Liberty ad meme. This image just makes me want to bash their bottle over the head with a bottle of Jack Daniels. Jump for two more posters, one of which basically calls New Yorkers nasty, dirty people. And to see the rest of the campaign, go here.
