Michael Israel isn’t a “performance artist” in the manner that, say, Laurie Anderson is a performance artist. He’s an artist — who performs. Part David Blaine, but mostly all Gallagher, Israel is a stunt-painter of the lowest order. It makes a certain sense, then,
that Benjamin Moore Paints would commission an original Israel portrait of Warren Buffet. The work’s creation was P.R. fodder to promote Benjamin Moore’s 125th anniversary shareholder meeting, held last week in Omaha, Neb. (Benjamin Moore is part of Berkshire Hathaway, which is headed by Buffet.)

As yet, there’s no video of this bit of brilliance. Instead, treat yourself to Michael Israel’s tribute to 9/11 firefighters:

The Warren Buffet painting will be auctioned off for charity because, as Israel told the Omaha World-Herald, it’s “an amazing, inspirational piece to have in your collection.”
