For the last few months, HSBC has been running a strange new print ad campaign featuring weird black & white illustrations of fake customers expressing their fake love for the bank. Seeing these surreal faces in a magazine is one thing. Seeing one of them eyeing me as I walk by an HSBC branch is another. And is this peekaboo perv supposed to represent me the customer, or one of their “Business Banking relationship managers?” Either way, I am most definitely not feeling a friendly neighborhood bank vibe—though I guess this is marginally better than bombing taxis with push pins.
