In an interview with PingMag, photographer Patrick Tsai reveals the story behind why My Little Dead Dick, an online photo diary in which Tsai documented his relationship with fellow photographer Madi Ju, is no more. A couple of years ago, the two met online and exposed their life together in China, an intimate project that became an online hit. That is, until they broke up the day the Great Sichuan Earthquake hit. For the last six months, he’s been working on a new photo series called “Modern Times.” Shot while he wanders the streets of Beijing, the set exposes random moments in his flâneuring: a submerged corpse, a floating spaceship, a random couple. “I started to feed off of the absurdity of things and appreciate it in a new context.
