Triboro_Bridge_from_Astoria_Park_at_Dawn.jpgFor the past 72 years, the “complex of three spans that connect the boroughs of Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens” has been referred to as the Triborough Bridge. The name was succinct and appropriate, but that’s all changed now. The landmark has been sillily renamed to the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge. The $4 million price tag to alter the signs, coupled with the possibility of no one calling it that at a time when even the state is going broke, makes for some piss poor political timing. It’s not like the city hasn’t honored the Kennedy clan either, there is that major airport dedicated to the more important one. |City Room|
