1_news017.jpgThis “telectroscope,” installed at the Fulton Ferry Landing near the Brooklyn Bridge, allows New Yorkers to wave, mime, and give the finger to Londoners who can also signal back with an identical one installed on South Bank near the Tower Bridge. So far, mostly genteel city residents are instigating communications with dry erase boards and some are even exchanging cell phone numbers with their transatlantic gawkers. It’s part of an art meets science experiment by Paul St. George. Publicists admitted that the steampunk looking gadget connects New York to London via fiberoptics, although the artist prefers a more fairy tale explanation involving a “secret tunnel.” |NYP|
