Complex Cleans Up Cover Girl Kim Kardashian
Marc Ecko shopazine, Complex, created quite a stir when they released their April/May issue that featured a CGI rendering of Kanye West on the cover, transforming the rapper from a black man into a silver-skinned cyborg. But he wasn’t the only one getting the technological treatment, it looks like their retouchers did a bunch of work on cover girl Kim Kardashian too. We spotted this image (left) of the talentless starlet this morning in their “web exclusive” gallery, but by afternoon she was looking recognizably altered (right) and then removed from the site completely. UPDATE: Kim responds on her blog.

true, they lightened her skin tone but overall they didn't do that much work…i've seen some excessively retouched photos and this is definitely not one of them…they barely did anything…if you want to see retouching check this out…

if you only noticed the lightened skin and cropped body then they did a better job than you give credit for. the suit was highlighted in some area and dimmed in others. the fringe was altered too. pretty much: her face was untouched (minus brightness and contrast), her hair and chest. but, thats the magic of makeup and push-ups and tape.

In the 70s people told us if we looked inappropiate, no one does it anymore because somewhere in the 80s some loon decided (Oprah) we should make our young women accept their bodies, no matter how ridiculous they really look.
It's tragic. And she looks like some Beyonce wannabee anyway. If I were her I would hunt down the stylist on that shoot, they made her into a laughing stock.

You guys listen, I've been on numerous sets for high fashion photoshoots with top agency models, actresses, actors, etc as a hair and makeup artist. My husband is also a photographer and master retoucher who works for these types of jobs. When I started out, I was amazed at how impossibly thin and tall and young the girls where in person, the victoria secret types even…. Those where the girls I was starving myself to look like in highschool… At 5'2" with a 34-24-34 frame I thought I was disgustingly fat! Now I know better…. All of the images we see in magazines, ALL of them, are retouched. Girls that are crazy skinny still have their thighs, waists, arms "shaved down" in final images!!!!
Some of them have an arm, leg, head swapped from a different shot of the same person for artistic presentation…. Breasts are sometimes enlarged, lifted, skin tone highlighted, shadows burned in….
Bottom line is: even the most beautiful people in the world don't look like what you see in magazines or catalogs… It's impossible even for them. It's not cool and I wish all women in our society could know this fact. Why do art directors insist on presenting unattainable perfection to the masses? Money. They want you and me to be obsessed with their product/celebrity client so that you will give them your hard earned money…. I agree with Oprah and whoever else is out there saying women need to. Be comfortable with and love their bodies. What guy truly enjoys being around a girl who is obsessed with her "shortcomings" appearance wise so much that it's all she seems to complain about or is so insecure that she is paranoid? When you see these celebrities that are being picked on for being too fat like Kim or Jennifer Love Hewitt or Jessica Simpson in person, you'd realize that they are extremely hot and sexy small to average sized women!!! I get looks all the time as a woman who is 36-25-35 and a size 2 but I can guarantee that as a celebrity I'd be maligned by the press…. Screw that! All of you out there that want to criticize these gals need to take a look deep inside and contemplate why you are so critical of others…. Maybe you've been mislead by the media and need to stop demanding the impossible of yourselves and others…. I do truly think our society would be a better place if we could accept ourselves and other as valuable and unique human beings instead of constantly looking for faults in each other.

They didn't lighten her skin, they fixed the white balance on the photo. You can see in the background of the first picture that the gray is noticeably warmer than in the retouched photo. However, they did a beautiful job painting over all that cellulite.
I'm really kinda neutral when it comes to Kim K. I'm a black woman and I've heard that she loves black MEN but can't stand black WOMEN because she feels likes she prettier and better than any black woman. I think she looks great in these pics. I see the retouching but I don't think they lightened her complexion to make her appear more white but her natural color has a red tone to it. It looks like they just complimented her complexion with a more bronze color. Altho we all know she had booty implants, I don't know about breast implants. Her breasts look too perfect and too natural. That big ole AZZ on the other hand looks completely FAKE!!!

If people think THIS is fat, they have some major problems! I think for those who do think she looks fat in either of these photos, retouched or not, you're just too used to sickly looking super-skinny girls who get all the publicity and attention. oh my gosh, I have cellulite too and have never had it before age 20. I'm not that fat either, probably 120 lbs, but I never check anyway. I'm 23 now and after you get to a certain age, you just get it, it doesn't mean that you are fat or anything.

I keep reading all these comments and one thing stands out above all else. Everyone has an opinion and it really doesn't matter. So what the girls got cellulite. Who doesn't? We all have it, even when we don't want to admit it. We can put down the famous people because it makes us fell better about our own problems. Truth is we need to clean out our back yards before we can try to comment on someone elses. Leave that girl alone. If she wants to flaunt her cellulite for all to see that's her business. If she doesn't care, why should we. I don't see people ranting and racing about the three hundred ound tourists they saw last week in Hawaii or on the beaches in Miami. You don't see that because the over weight tourists aren't famous. If they were we would be reading about what they bought in the grocery store and how much weight they have gained or lost in the last thirty days. I think we all need a dose of reality and take back control of our lives and leave others to thier own demise. It's coming sooner or later and I for one want no part of the hollywood meltdown. Every image you see in a magazine like that will be significantly retouched, normal human skin is not blemish free and has things like pores and hairs (it'd be pretty terrible skin if it didn't) and ALL skin has other flaws too.
It's important to remember that even though models are layered with make-up they still need retouching – often significantly – to adhere to the flawless, inhuman images in these magazines. It is a vicious circle, since we are all so used to the image of plastic skinned, inhuman models publications cannot simply stop retouching, since no-one would buy the magazine!
The result is that people think that 'beautiful' people look like that, and it makes everyone (including the models – since they look human in real life) less beautiful – which is a truly sad thing.

hi curt here..My father, Anson Clark, was in the rangers with the 2nd Infantry division during D-Day. I believe that he was injured near Brest, France while assigned to the 29th Infantry Regiment (not completely sure of that). He was awarded a Purple Heart for his injuries and 100% disability via congressional award. I am trying to find out about a special skull and bones that was on the sleeve of his dress uniform. I can find no information so I am assuming that it was some kind of field insignia that wasn't issued by the army. Unfortunately, my step mother trashed his uniform while I was serving in the army during vietnam.
