Government Terrorizes New Yorkers With Low Flying 747
A low flying, Air Force One lookalike buzzed lower Manhattan today with a fighter jet in tow prompting evacuations of office buildings in the city and in Jersey. Officials explained it was just for a photo op and didn’t mean to facilitate a communal 9/11 flashback. Their bad. See another photo and video of the tragedy reminding flight after the jump.

Hate to be a dick, but am I the only one who thinks that its mildly unreasonable for everyone to get worked up about this? People act as if there aren't two goddamned busy airports right dab in the middle of the city, and hundreds of flights zoom by, above, and around NYC everyday, not even including the large amount of civilian traffic that is allowed in corridors that everyday people see constantly.
More over, its obvious that the plane is Air Force One, which would instill in me a keen desire to flash a peace sign at Obama then run for my life.

You guys are fucking idiots. I work on Wall St and from my office, I saw the plane flying in the direction of our building. Two people in cubes outside my office (who were in WTC and managed to escape) saw the plane and freaked out. I don't think they overreacted given the trauma they've been through. Sure, once the plane turned away and we saw the fighter jet we realized that it was a gov't plane, but given what's happened here in the past, I don't think it's unreasonable to freak the fuck out when you see a HUGE jet heading in your direction. And it wasn't "obvious that the plane was Air Force One" (because it wasn't) when you're looking at it coming towards you.
PS. I can see Newark, LGA, and JFK from our floor and therefore I know the path these planes usually fly when coming in and out. So when we saw this one, we knew something was up, because it was right above the Statue of Liberty and waaaaay too low.

Keep the IDIOT Americans scared! Remind them of how the US GOV i mean, Saddam Hussein, no wait, the evil doers (the taliban) are ready to destroy another building!! USING AIRPLANES!. Guess they somehow smuggled more than 3oz of fluids onto a plane. QUICK Install WBI (whole body imaging) scanners into the airports and force people to hand over their personal rights and liberties. Facism, Socialism, ah to be american and blind! We better invade iran soon!! cause you know just how bad we need their oil, i mean how bad they want to bomb us cause they hate our freedom and our education system and our taco stands!
