Staten Island: The Swine Flu Free Borough

statenislandCurrently, Staten Island is the only borough without any confirmed or suspected cases of Swine Flu. Earlier today, cases of the somewhat-dangerous, but media over-hyped virus were confirmed in Brooklyn and the Bronx, while a suspected outbreak was found at a Catholic school on the Upper West Side. Although the flu may already be lurking on the island of Shaolin, a few preventative measures could go a long way to keeping residents healthy: cut off ferry service with Manhattan, close the bridges to Brooklyn and New Jersey and throw up some barriers that not even Snake Plissken could surmount.

this is crazy. i know ya are trying to save peoples lives but all i know is that why close up bridges thats a bit over the top. closing schools thats protective to kids. but dont close transportation! no one wants to be stuck in a island where theres probably nothing to do. c’mon please dont treat us like that. just people need to get checked out by doctors. and its contact to contact. human to human theres nothing we can do but BE CAREFUL!!! thats all..

    Hopefully Everyone stays SAFE!

    New York, New York!

  2. We are coming out of the normal time of year when we have flu circulating in the UK so we don't really know what size of epidemic there may be in the next couple of months.

it is out of line to close bridges and such. there can be other ways to solve this epidemic panic. and i agree with anasia. we cannot be locked up on this island. people have jobs outside this island and what would be best is that the staten island people to be very cutious and keep their hygene clean. being locked up on an island is worse for the people and it would cause bigger problems to the public.

I agree, it would be a bit unorthodox to close transportation. Besides, 100,000 Americans die each year from the 'Regular Flu' so what makes this flu any different? It spreads by touch? OHHHH!! So does the regular flu lmao.

  5. indeed, we have to save the sick people before the healthy

people infect them, i mean what about bill gates hes rich and pooor

i say racheal you are a slob :]

  6. Verification is foreseen later today for the foremost event of to person human being transfer of swine influenza in the UK. It is considered to be a friend of Lain and Dawn Askham, who were the foremost confirmed victims in Great Britain and they gathered subsequently after their return from honeymoon in United Mexican States. at first the man was discharged but after his symptoms persisted he was re examined and was detected to be suffering from Type A flu. Examinations are still in progress but are expected to confirm swine influenza. This instantly takes the total number of swine influenza sufferers in the UK to 8 -that's 6 in England 2 in Scotland but till now no deaths.
