Artist Ben Grasso Raises the Roof

With his most recent work, artist Ben Grasso continues painting landscapes hovering between the abstract and actual. Inspired by the observations of Danish public placemaker Jan Gehl, the Brooklyn-based artist doesn’t let “arbitrary boundaries get in the way” of painting places where “hurtling parts of man-made structures freeze in midair and mingle with nature.” Tonight, Ben Grasso opens Clearing, a solo show of his latest paintings, at Thierry Goldberg Projects from 6 to 8 PM. The exhibition is on view through through June 7 at 5 Rivington Street on the Lower East Side.
