FAUST and Faune’s New Pyramid Scheme

For last weekend’s Bushwick Market Fair, graffiti artist FAUST collaborated with Faune Motion Graphics on a multi-faceted mural installation: a 30-foot painting coupled with a 6-foot pyramid covered in video art. The skilled writer sent over some photos of the short-lived work, which “transcended the traditional notion of what a mural is,” and told us:
I aspired for the mural to challenge the popular perception of graffiti, warping my ‘tag’ to an architectural scale which drew as much from art history and design as it did the streets. Their video featured constantly blending patterns that would fluctuate between color and black and white. By using projection mapping techniques and real-time 3D software they were able to create a sculptural extension of the existing wall, a glowing, living object that interacts with physical space.
