The Return of the Montauk Monster?

new_montauk_monster_lede

Another strange beast, similar to the famed Montauk Monster, washed up on a Long Island beach. This latest slimy, horny nosed creature was discovered by a Southold couple the night of May 6th in Founders Landing Park according to blogger Nicky Papers. ANIMAL is on the story with the hopes of dispelling the myth, but for now an exclusive dead monster gallery below.

Location where creature was found is approximately 17 miles to the southwest of the clandestine animal research center at Plum Island.

My friend who’s a vet student says this:

“Labrador. Possibly. Or possibly Rottweiler. Was on a high salt diet before it was dropped off a bridge somewhere. Skin fell off and body absorbed water. Yuck.”

Makes sense, since the body is disproportionately bloated compared to the decayed skull.

  2. Oh My God, that’s gross. I hope it’s a real monster and not a dog, and not a publicity stunt this time!

Having resided, sailed and fished in the area for over 50 years, the likelihood that the “clandestine animal research center” is responsible is negated by the prevailing currents which would take the ‘monster’ out further into Gardiner’s Bay or the LI Sound and not the extremely sheltered Southold Harbor section of Peconic Bay.

That is nothing more than a bloated, skinless RACCOON carcass…. you can tell by the fingers, skull shape and long tail. Also look at the proportion of it in the pic with the guy putting it into a bag, its relatively small (not rottie or lab sized) its not a dog, its a raccoon! and yes i am a vet student as well…

Lets not forget that there is an animal testing facility right next to the Ferry Station at Orient Point….

It’s called a possom-coon you guys. The government was successful in fertilizing the egg and sperm of a possom and racoon. And, unfortunately, this one got out of his enclosure and tried to swim away. The same thing happened last year, and they’re still trying to see what they can create from a test tube.

IT’S THE RIGHT SIZE FOR A PRETTY WELL DECAYED RACCOON – MISSING IT’S LEGS BELOW THE KNEES, ARMS BELOW THE ELBOWS, AND BOTTOM JAW. I HAVE SEEN MANY ROAD SIDE ROTTING ROADKILLS THAT LOOKED PRETTY MUCH LIKE THIS ONE. CALL ME MORBIDLY CURIOUS- I WONDER IF THERE IS A SEWAGE PIPE NEAR BY THAT DRAINS INTO THE OCEAN THAT WOULD WASH A DEAD RACOON ONTO THE SURF DURING HIGH TIDE? IT PROBABLY DIED IN THE SEWER. THE CARCASS IS PROBEBLY LESS THEN A WEEK OLD IN THE PIX. THE FUR LOSS WOULD ACCOUNT FOR IT BEING UNDERWATER FOR A WHILE BEFORE THE BLOATING GASSES TOOK IT TO THE SURFACE. NO WONDER IT SMELLS REALLY REALLY BAD!…LOL. I THINK IT’S SIMPLY A COINCIDANCE THAT ‘08′S DEAD RACCOON THAT ‘DISAPPEARED’ SPARKED THE INTEREST IN THIS LATEST ‘DISCOVERY.’ MY BET – LAST YEARS CORPS WAS FIGURED OUT AND CONVIENTLY FORGOTTEN – UNTIL THIS ONE SHOWED UP.

I consider that is coming from the animal testing facility… why doesn’t any lab wants to check this strange creature? I think is another bad result from an experiment. by the way Im against this “animal experiments”..

  11. a dog nor raccoon have a beak, think about what you’re saying!
