IT'S THE RIGHT SIZE FOR A PRETTY WELL DECAYED RACCOON - MISSING IT'S LEGS BELOW THE KNEES, ARMS BELOW THE ELBOWS, AND BOTTOM JAW. I HAVE SEEN MANY ROAD SIDE ROTTING ROADKILLS THAT LOOKED PRETTY MUCH LIKE THIS ONE. CALL ME MORBIDLY CURIOUS- I WONDER IF THERE IS A SEWAGE PIPE NEAR BY THAT DRAINS INTO THE OCEAN THAT WOULD WASH A DEAD RACOON ONTO THE SURF DURING HIGH TIDE? IT PROBABLY DIED IN THE SEWER. THE CARCASS IS PROBEBLY LESS THEN A WEEK OLD IN THE PIX. THE FUR LOSS WOULD ACCOUNT FOR IT BEING UNDERWATER FOR A WHILE BEFORE THE BLOATING GASSES TOOK IT TO THE SURFACE. NO WONDER IT SMELLS REALLY REALLY BAD!...LOL. I THINK IT'S SIMPLY A COINCIDANCE THAT '08'S DEAD RACCOON THAT 'DISAPPEARED' SPARKED THE INTEREST IN THIS LATEST 'DISCOVERY.' MY BET - LAST YEARS CORPS WAS FIGURED OUT AND CONVIENTLY FORGOTTEN - UNTIL THIS ONE SHOWED UP.

It's called a possom-coon you guys. The government was successful in fertilizing the egg and sperm of a possom and racoon. And, unfortunately, this one got out of his enclosure and tried to swim away. The same thing happened last year, and they're still trying to see what they can create from a test tube.
