If gamblers are adrenalin or endorphin junkies, they're likely to be as hooked on thrills as anyone taking outside substances into themselves for the high. In that sense, this series might raise a bit of awareness about the nature of gambling addiction. At least it doesn't browbeat, or offer a tepid suggestion a la "just say no". I'm not sure they're trying to force a metaphor so much as raise awareness.
