Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia!
Luckily, these are not scratch and lick liquor adverts. The strategy behind this campaign for La Sangre Azul de Los Gringo’s (The blue blood of the Gringo’s) tequila is basically digestible, I guess: authentically Mexican. However, I am having a hell of time getting my head around these insanely unappetizing executions. I simply must ask ad agency Volcano in Johannesburg, South Africa the obvious question: why have you digitally decapitated stereotypical Mexican characters, and then placed their scary-ass heads in shot glasses? WHY? I like my tequila made from 100% blue agave, not 100% fucking inexplicability. Are these some sort of advertising sacrifices to the Aztec Gods? They don’t look like virgins to me. Jump for the third ad featuring a bandolero in a bandanna shooter.
