Did the Kings of Rock Hate the King of Pop?
With countless musicians chiming in on the death of Michael Jackson, it should be noted that not all rappers were big fans of the mega pop star regardless of how many times Hip Hop sampled his music. Back in 1985, Run DMC took shots at him in their smash video “The King of Rock” (0:58). The rap duo stomps on his iconic rhinestone glove while singing the following lyrics:
They called us and said we’re gettin’ iller
There’s no one chiller
It’s not Michael Jackson and this is not Thriller
