Banksy Vandalized Again

Hours after shooting up one of Banksy’s murals, unknown vandals struck again, firing shots at the millionaire street artist’s “Mild Mild West” piece in Bristol. Similar to yesterday’s attack on his “Windows Lovers” painting, blue paintballs were splattered across the work—earlier this year it was splashed with washable red paint by Appropriate Media. While a local politician was busy cleaning off the ‘Lovers’, the People’s Republic of Stokes Croft got to work cleaning the latest barrage.

Inner city beekeepers are sick of being forced into the shadows because of their illegal craft and over a dozen of the amateur honey producers swarmed City Hall yesterday to call for the legalization of beekeeping within the five boroughs. One of the outlaws noted that even the White House has a hive. |AP|

Billboard Ad Takeovers Continue in Williamsburg

Along Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, Jordan Seiler of Public Ad Campaign spotted a couple billboards painted over by RAB that are reminiscent of the New York Street Advertising Takeover. While one of the ads was an illegal NPA billboard, the other is just a handpainted Colosal Media spot for the unpopular “Flydealists Unite” campaign.

Lee Crider, the dumb thief who stole Lance Armstrong’s $10k bicycle earlier this year and fenced it for just $200, is facing up to three years in prison when he’s sentenced on Monday. 40-year-old Dung Hoang Le who bought the stolen Trek time trial bike was sentenced to 90 days in jail. |ESPN|

Everything You Know About Dinosaurs Is False

Well not everything, but a major piece to the puzzle: their size. In a crushing blow to the collective conscious and the imagination of children everywhere, scientists announced that dinosaurs probably weren’t as big as once believed. They cite the Apatosaurus louisae—one of the largest dinosaurs and coolest attractions at the Museum of Natural History—as an example. According to new research, it likely only weighed 18 metric tons instead of 38 making it about as heavy as one of these Caterpillar trucks. |ScienceDaily|

The Revolution’s Granddaughter Will Not Be Twitterized

Though many laud Twitter as a vital lifeline for Iranian early adopters, it’s by no means critical to all revolutionaries. Some, like Lydia Guevara, are abandoning the 140-character messaging service altogether. After gaining dozens of new followers after news of her semi-nude PETA ad campaign broke, the granddaughter of Cuban revolutionary leader Che Guevara has gone silent and deleted her Twitter account. But don’t put your fists down just yet, her personal blog is still breathing so there’s hope that her vegetarian revolution will live on. After the jump are Guevara’s final tweets to her comrades before signing off, saved by Google for posterity. Update: it’s back up! Read more »

Anthony Seminerio, the legally embattled Queens Assemblymember who wanted to literally spank graffiti vandals, resigned his post today. Seminerio is expected to plead guilty tomorrow to charges related to the $1 million he took in payoffs as well as an extortion attempt. |NYDN|

Keep Perez Hilton Away from the Teens Petition

Openly gay blogger and all around terrible person, Perez Hilton, is not having a good week. After getting caught on tape attacking straight rapper Will.i.am with a hateful slur—”fucking faggot” to be exact—and then subsequently being punished with a black eye and a statement from GLAAD, a petition floating around asking that he be removed as a candidate for the Teen Choice Awards on Fox is starting to gain momentum. He’s currently a nominee for the “Choice Music: Fab-u-lous” and “Choice Web Star” categories, but with about 94,216 more signatures that could all change.

Calvin Klein Ends Freedom-Killing Mind Control

Calvin Klein has gone and switched up their Houston Street billboard, replacing the image of topless teens making out with a bikini-clad model. While it’s doubtful the small controversy surrounding the old billboard had anything to do with the change, at least Virginia-based conservative columnist Erika Lassen can take comfort in the fact that the freedom-inhibiting ad will not be putting mind control over anyone like it did to her. |Ramble on Rose|
