Commenter complains about ET’s low quality photo of Michael Jackson:

“This is a shameful act, you should be ashamed of yourselves this photo is undignified and of bad taste. This is something that should be private for his family. Not to be exposed to the public. Its not classy at all. Its rude to the family. This is something maybe nice to be presented in private to the family as a kind thought, not like this! Evil, plain Evil! It just goes to show that you have no boundaries and are in serious need of emotional intelligence.”

Are Somali Pirate Hunting Cruises a Hoax? Probably

In what has to be a hoax unless Lucifer himself has taken up residence on Earth, Austrian business paper Wirtschaftsblatt claims that an unscrupulous Russian luxury yacht company is offering pirate hunting cruises along the Somali coast. For nearly $6000 a day, passengers can ply the coastal waters in a heavily armed boat going just 5 knots in hopes of drawing a pirate attack.

When attacked, they retaliate with grenade launchers, machine guns and rocket launchers. Passengers, who can pay an extra 5 Dollar a day for an AK-47 machine gun and 12 Dollar for 100 rounds of ammo, are also protected by a squad of ex special forces troops.

At least 128 inexperienced rookie cops will be hitting the street under a deal brokered by Senator Chuck Schumer to reconstitute the dwindling NYPD force with federal funding. Previous rules only allowed hiring anti-terrorism officers with federal money but Commissioner Ray Kelly pushed for using the indefinite millions to hire new recruits and promoting experienced officers to the “elite units.” |NYP|

With countless musicians chiming in on the death of Michael Jackson, it should be noted that not all rappers were big fans of the mega pop star regardless of how many times Hip Hop sampled his music. Back in 1985, Run DMC took shots at him in their smash video “The King of Rock” (0:58). The rap duo stomps on his iconic rhinestone glove while singing the following lyrics: Read more »

Get Ready for Endless Unauthorized Michael Jackson Ads

Advertising-wise, the King of Soda Pop will of course be most remembered by these three words: “hair on fire“—which happened during the filming of a 1984 commercial for Pepsi. Luckily for the soda maker and ad agency BBDO, Jackson survived the accident and went on to sell oceans of sugar water. Every web site on the planet is posting MJ’s old Pepsi spots today. So instead, let’s take a look at a couple of print ads from 2008 that illegally used the iconic star’s image. Above, Volkswagen used a stand-in to sell its combo entertainment/navigation system. The ad won several awards, including a Bronze Lion at Cannes. Pretty tenuous borrowed interest concept, in my opinion. Smoother is an ad for a Barcelona shopping center after the jump. In the coming months, Idea-starved ad creatives the world over will be adding to the collection. Read more »

Who has hissy fits over having Joe Scarborough on their show? MSNBC hosts like David Gregory, that’s who. He reportedly threw a tantrum when his colleague was booked to appear on rival George Stephanopoulos’ show this Sunday, instead of Meet the Press, and demanded he cancel. |NYP|
