I love the HighLine, go late after noon on a week day or around 8:30 , not too crowded, been twice already, LIKES, the sunken sitting area over 10th ave and the lighting, DISLIKES the water feature still not working.

The line may seem long, but the wait wasn't that bad. As soon as we got into the line, it moved pretty quickly. And we went on that Sunday around 3PM. And yes they had to stamped our hands to gain entry into the High Line.

It's a new park gaining much publicity, especially within the media, i.e. NY1, HuffPo, etc. They'll eventually open-up the entrances on 16th sts, and 23rd st. But for now, only the Gansevoort street entrance is open, hence the crowd.

I don't think "Things you can't buy will occasionally be in your line of sight" is a valid criticism of a park. I can't afford real estate around Central Park either, but I still enjoy the zoo.

We went up on Saturday and found it utterly...profound. I lived in Portland for several years, and as much as they trumpet their progressive, visionary natures, they would never have come up with something so beautiful.

Not Impressed. The weed garden is enough to make anyone with slightest allergies sneeze their face off...also

More like a walking tour of restaurants & housing that the middle & lower classes cannot & will never be able to afford.

Weird. I was up there Saturday afternoon, probably around the same time. No waiting to go up whatsoever.

A worthy idea but it wouldn't do much to dispel a lot of the class-related criticisms about the park.

Wow, we went up Sunday morning at 11am and it was totally fine (also threat of rain at that point so maybe that's why). That's wild. As for the guy who asked about bikes, if you saw it you'd realize why no bikes. It's really narrow and there are these raised, grooved sections which could be treacherous. Not to mention the plant life would get wrecked. It's truly awesome so I hope people can make their way up!
