ZEVS’ Chanel Logo Liquidation Could Cost A Million Dollars

Recently arrested street artist ZEVS says his logo liquidation should be easy to wash off, but a Hong Kong clean-up crew disagrees. Prosecutors say the paint he poured over a Chanel logo he pasted on a Giorgio Armana storefront won’t come off and the façade must be replaced completely, at a cost of $870k. The 31-year-old Parisian artist pleaded guilty to the vandalism charges, but called the cost “surrealistic,” saying his drippy work had been washed off “more delicate surfaces in other cities.” If there’s a chance ZEVS is on the hook for nearly $1 million in damage, it’s a pretty safe bet he didn’t make his opening last night at Art Statements gallery.

Fear not lawbreakers, the newly renovated Washington Square Park is safe for now. The Parks Department has reportedly “shot down the proposal from a group of Greenwich Village locals to hire uniformed off-duty policemen to bolster the park’s patrolling.” |Curbed|

Hugo Boss Model’s Criminal Behavior

While most stick to waiting tables, a 20-year-old Hugo Boss model was apparently supplementing his income with a string of robberies across Brooklyn and Queens. Cops arrested Joshua Walter and his band of thieves, saying they hit more than a dozen gas stations and corner stores, looting the cash register and customers, even pistol-whipping one. Previously, Walter made the news for having a live-in relationship with his former high school teacher who was eventually fired when the arrangement was exposed. |NYP|

NY Times Story Kills ‘Best Kept Secret’ In Brooklyn

Last week, the New York TimesFort Greene blog blew the cover off a “secret underground climbing gym” by publishing, then deleting the story, ensuring maximum exposure. Now, according to commenters, the “bizarre hybrid of subterranean climbing gym and hippie speakeasy” has been shut down. An ex-climber from the once covert space confirms, via email, that “the gym was closed due to this story. It is uncertain when or if it will ever be open again,” making Jed Lipinski the most hated man in Brooklyn. Well, to these people below at least. Read more »

Fifteen-Year Olds About To Fuck In French Durex Spot

This is not an especially creative condom commercial via McCann Paris for Durex (tagged: “condoms that generate desire”). The boinking balloon bunnies spot was much more memorable and desire-generating. But what is memorable about this is the youngness of the teens inspired to take a homework fuck break by the floating condom wrapper that serves as the spot’s lascivious linchpin. Just imagine the reaction if this underage ad porn made its way to American airways. My god, the thoughts it would put into our chaste teens’ minds. Jump for the SFW pre-coital scenes (plus two gay cops) scored with a cheesy Abba (knock-off?) tune. Read more »

A new law takes aim at distracted drivers, banning motorists from text messaging and using other electronic devices, when it goes into effect this November. But unlike the state’s driver cell phone ban, police can only issue the extra $150 fine if a motorist is breaking another law as well, which only diminishes the law’s value to improve safety on the road. |NYP|

Jeff Staple’s Pigeon Shits On Another Brand

Continuing to milk the hype once associated with his pigeon-inspired logo and colorway, Jeff Staple collaborated with Kangol on a shit-covered safari hat. The 5-panel, neckflap-equipped “Pigeon Sunhat” shares the same design and style that Staple has used with so many brands already: Nike, New Balance, New Era, Converse, not to mention his own. So if you’re into streetwear history, this $77 cap might help protect your neck while outside your local boutique this summer. |Hypebeast|
