Jay Leno Debuts His ‘New’ Show with Kanye West’s Lame Apology

kanye_west_leno Tonight NBC aired the debut episode of their relentlessly promoted “new” 10pm comedy/variety/talk show, The Jay Leno Show. The verdict: it’s the exact same show as the Jay Leno-hosted Tonight Show, minus a desk (A bad idea as Jay looks extremely uncomfortable playing host in a lounge chair) and with the musical performance moved up one segment. That’s it. For all the talk about how different the show would be, new Jay is a virtual carbon copy of old Jay. Surprised?! And not to pile on Leno here — God knows there’s more than enough anti-Leno venom floating around the internet — but the only thing remotely interesting about the show was Kanye West’s apology.

And by “remotely interesting” I mean that Kanye basically came off as an even bigger asshole than he was before, as he basically blamed his assault on Taylor Swift at the VMAs on his mother’s death and the pressure of being a celebrity. What an absolute joke.
