You know, I’ve seen so many of these videos of wingnuts doing what wingnuts do at wingnut events, that you’d really think that I’d be sort of desensitized to them by this point, but this one kind of shook me at a bit. There’s not really any creative editing that went on here, it’s just a mild-mannered guy with a microphone walking around through the crowd letting “real” Americans, people like many of the people in the town I grew up in, speak their mind. What resulted is both frightening and exceedingly sad.
Now, it’s important to keep in mind here the the alleged purpose of this rally was to recreate the sense of patriotism and unity we collectively felt as a nation on the day after the Sept. 11th attacks, but what’s captured in this video is nothing more than rampant fear, paranoia and staggering ignorance. That said, these hopelessly misguided voices are the loudest in the fight for the direction of the nation right now, and it’s a fight that they seem to be somehow winning, which is exactly why watching this video is frightening and exceedingly sad.

Well, if you would put that martini down, you might start to realize that we are, in America, less free than even the Communist Dictatorship Regieme that is China. We have far more laws, restrictions, and regulations, than China, and those laws, restrictions and regulations extend well past the major cities and into every single small town and community in the country.
This results in a corporate owned everything, where the government is used to regulate and restrict competition to the international multi-conglomerates, and therefore restrict prosperity, aka the pursuit of hapiness.
The press is bought and paid for by the very corporations that own everything else, and the government protects their establishment while harrassing outside or alternative media.
Every amendment, and every clause in every amendment, in the Bill of Rights with the exception of the 3rd (so far, no quartering) has been broken by the government and those violations backed by the criminals who hold positions on the Supreme Court. These courts have now even upheld that property can be seized if it financially benefits the tax base, and government can garnish wages if debts are owed.
The end result is that despite having 4 times as many people as the United States, China has less people (by number) in their prisons and jails, and they are supposed to be the dictatorship. We no longer have protected rights. We no longer have private property. The government has shown no respect for the RULE OF LAW!!! Now, the government is trying to take over our economy, our healthcare, and basically every aspect of our lives, which Nancy Polosi says, MUST BE INVENTORIED!!! They are even trying to raise a GLOBAL CARBON TAX, and a CAP AND TRADE system to pay for a WORLD GOVERNMENT to protect us from a crisis that doesn't even exist!!!
And according to the UN, CHINA is the model that they are designing the WORLD GOVERNMENT on.

Nice video, while it demonstrates that a few have a lack of knowledge on terminology it misses the point, people are scared of their government and angry over the manner in which they carry our their duties.

Makes you wonder if they only made video clips of who would make the point they want to display. You can't really believe anything unless you were there. I have been all over the world and believe me, America is the envy and the target for those who don't have our freedoms. All I can say is, if you don't vote…you're part of the problem. I guess freedom can be defined variably, but I think quality-of-life is a reasonable proxy measure. How is your life negatively affected by living in America?
For example, you mention that Americans no longer have private property – does this mean you have been evicted from your home for no reason or had your assets arbitrarily seized?
I think when people truly lack freedom they are able to point to many tangible ways their own lives have been affected.

I think I agree with you that America is still a very good place to live in comparison to other parts of the world and that quality-of-life can be, to some degree, a good reflection of the overall freedom of a society. Does that mean we should simply sit by as our freedoms are systematically stripped away from us? Do we wait for our quality-of-life to plunge to that of a third-world country before we decide that we are not free enough? Just because my life has not been directly affected by loss of freedoms in a very significant way does not mean I should wait for it to affect me before I act. Does this not make sense? There was a great poem by a man named Martin Niemoller that conveys this idea:
"First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out– because I was not a communist; Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out– because I was not a socialist; Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out– because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out– because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me– and there was no one left to speak out for me."
In my eyes, once freedom is taken away, you cannot get it back. At least not without significant bloodshed. However, with the advanced technology that military has at their disposal today it is hard to imagine any rebellion of the people against oppression actually succeeding. This renders any argument that points to past 'successful' revolutions utterly and completely useless. The playing fields are no longer level.
I think what @FreeinTX was saying about private property is that it should be more accurately called 'granted property' because the government can seize or confiscate it at any time. While it may seem to be private property to some because they own the land, it is simply an illusion. I know people who have had this happen to them (road-construction, federal buildings, new businesses that would arguably improve the local economy, etc.). I also know people who have had their houses searched and personal items seized without a warrant.
Now back to the idea of quality-of-life. It is, in theory, possible to enslave a people by their own consent. If the illusion is created that everything is fine and well, if the quality-of-life is kept high, then the majority of the people won't see that something is amiss until there's no turning back.
Way to cherry pick all the negative interviews out of the countless people there. Surely you could have displayed some intelligent interviews but you didn't. You obviously have an agenda and you went out of your way to portray everyone there as a racist, paranoid uninformed hick. You have a promising future at one of our major "news" outlets like msnbc, fox or maybe even cnn.
Now that I've “digested†your video I'm more bothered by your total lack of respect for other people's thoughts.
