The Panama Monster

panama_monster_450x338

Finally, a new monster that’s not from Montauk. This handsome looking thing was found by two teenagers exploring near a lakefront cave in Panama. It reportedly emerged from behind a waterfall and looked like it was going to attack so they slew the hairless beast with rocks. And if you think this slimy abomination is gross looking shortly after its death, wait till you see its ungodliness after some buzzards snacked on it.

looks like a sloth to me, having no furr and being that pale might be explained by the habitat being a dark cave, btw great to know that we have developed as humans to such great heights that we will stone creatures emerging from behind waterfalls, got to go.. can hear the unicorn coming and still have nothing to trough at it!

  3. jUSTIN

    Thomas, it's clearly a monster. Don't front.

  4. Teodora

I completely agree with Thomas! Humans are the monsters, judging by the horrible things they do, affecting both nature and animals (especially animals)

In this case, what can I say about a couple of brats killing a strange creature that did not even attack them, and then sadistically taking the time to throw it into the water? (I read an article were they were supposedly TERRIFIED BY THE MONSTER, yet found the courage to touch the creature afterwards)

"two teenagers exploring near a lakefront cave in Panama…" Exploring MY ARSE! If they were really exploring, they would have tried to find out what that thing comming towards them really was, taken pictures of it and/or of the cave and surrounding areas, or they would have simply ran away..

I almost cry, seeing this pitiful creature lying helplessly on the rocks, like a newly-born baby animal ..How can people be so narrow-minded (and yes, Justin, I'm talking about you too) as to make jokes about this, or even worse, call it a "monster" or a "slimy abomination"! How the hell do you know what that was, wether it was dangerous or not?

Ok, then let's kill ALL the wierd-looking creatures on this planet, starting with handicapped people, people suffering from hypertrichosis, olms, dugongs or sloths (BTW..young explores from all over the world, the last 3 are rare animals in case you didn't know, try not to stone them when you see them)

    YOU were the Precious.

  8. bernice

It really looks like a sloth with out fur… if i were those children i would try to capture it alive…it might be a new chapter for science's history

  9. Justin: Thank you!

  10. sNAP

fo sho you look like a fag.

  11. focus

    I totally agree with Teodora!

  12. I CANT BELEIVE HUMANS COULD BE SO BACKWARD AND PRIMATIVE! TO STONE SOMETHING THAT COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING AS WE KNOW IT. WE DEFINATELY DO NOT HAVE ANY HOPE OF ANY CONTACT WITH ANY CIVILISATIONS NOW! ITS LIKE WHEN WE WATCH ALL THOSE SCI-FI MOVIES AND WATCH THE HUMAN RACE ACTING DRASTICALLY AND TRYING TO KILL EXTRA TORRESTRIALS, GETTING THE ARMY IN, HELICOPTERS ALL KINDS OF STUPID "PRIMATIVE" ACTIONS AND REACTIONS TO UFO'S COMING TO EARTH. THAT IS EXACTLY HOW WE ARE! THANKS GUYS…

  13. frank

hmmm. kill first ask questions later!- its the only way isnt it??

  14. ROBERT

Thomas,Teodora I think we are in agreement. It seems to be just another example of typical human nature even now in our "enlightened age",that whatever is different is to be feared and labeled a monster and killed if possible.Ignorance rules this world. Those kids,if they actually did kill what appears to be a sloth, should be punished for their crime.Attacked…Bullshit! Anyone who has any intelligence knows that a sloth is a very slow moving creature and couldn't run or move quickly to save it's own live. They simply had fun killing something that was helpless. All kids know today are "kill everything" computer games and they are our future. The real monsters are those kids and all the ignorant people in this world.Aliens should correctly fear us for being what WE are.If an angel from heaven appeared he would probably be killed by a mob.We consider ourselves superior to the animal kingdom and look at what we are and what we are doing to this planet. The only thing wrong with this world is us.

  15. look at the poor animal's claws, and you can clearly see its a sloth. And we all know how fast they can move!! so for them monsters to have killed it with rocks, Well they had to think real quick don't you think, I mean sloth's are very (FAST) RIP sloth…..

  16. BobbyJIM

    @Teodora

Great idea on that kill all weird looking stuff! EVERYONE GRAB YOUR TORCHES AND PITCHFORKS!! HUNTIN TIME!

  17. Ash

    MEWTWO, what have they done??

  18. I THINK IT IS SAD THAT THEY FELT THEY HAD TO STONE IT TO DEATH, WHY DID THEY THROW IT IN THE WATER, NORMAL PEOPLE WOULD HAVE GONE TO GET HELP, SOMETHING SUSPICIOUS ABOUT THAT TO ME!!!!

  19. fo sho's

that right delete my comments you piece of shhit you defenitey have no life by deleting my shit you stupid fuck

  20. i would have done the same thing if i saw something like that coming towards me.

  21. Fo sho: It's funny, usually I never delete comments, but in your case I'm invoking the asshole clause. If you can mature and contribute to the conversation you will be re-allowed.

  22. yes it´s look like MEW .. really..i want to catch it cause i want to catch all of them….POKEMONNNNNNNNNNNN

  23. rheder

I'm also from latin america gerion and I felt so bad about it,people down here still leaving on stone age by doing that, its ridiculous its clear for anyone in the planet ET might exist, however they are not leaving here..otherwise afeter more than 2009 year we would see any incidence of their precense….I'm pretty sure this was some jackass from panama that was looking for the whole world get attention for his country….next time why don't try to do somethimg good for the human race???….kill the

Sloth was a terrible mistake and by DNA exam we can show to the world it was a feak move and from there I would love to know who and how is gonna pay for killing this animal and try to make thw whole word believe in such a crap…..

  24. ROBERT

A thought ladies and gentlemen, when we look at the pictures of the unfortunate sloth it occurs to me that there is no sense of scale. There is nothing in the pictures to use as a comparison to the presumed size of the body.Like a forced perspective.Could the body be very small and simply be enlarged in the photos? It could be a sloth fetus only inches long.Note the absence of teeth?

  25. kerrie

poor little sloth…..thoes kids are jerks……….

  26. ROBERT

    And btw–Monster is a child's word.

  27. Ian

Don't act suprised that they killed it. It's Panama. Last I checked they weren't the most educated country. So STFU!

  28. Ian

    Mabey that's their dinner assholes!

  29. conrad

ok first off they were teenage boys plus it took them by suprise they didnt know it was there and go after it trying to kill it

plus having no idea of what it was they had no idea what it could do, dont act like you wouldnt get scared either

they did what came out of instinct AKA primitive defense from unknown thing

we have that because of evolution its in all of us, idiots

as for throwing it in the water i have no idea why they did that probably becauae after primitive instinct left they started to get some hindsight and they realized they did something wrong and tried to cover it up

and no where in any story did it say the kids enjoyed doing what they did so try to think first before you talk and use some empathy

also there are no proven facts that it is a sloth so dont act like its true, no one in here is an expert on this, i can guarantee that

so get off your high horse and dont talk about things you dont know untill you do know them because you wernt there and still arn't

  30. mahdiman420

i can't believe how soft you people are. if those kids didn't kill it you wouldn't even know about it. it just a stupid animal.

  31. It's definitely Sloth, it has been dead in the water for quite some time, and washed, up. and lose its hair. Those kids just made up stories.

  32. ROBERT

Bucky Turco–Tell me–Is this site set up for any moron with the ability to type.I can't believe the idiots in here.Is this a teen site? Are these members?Enlighten me–I just found it online.

  33. ROBERT

Conrad–yes, set us all straight :) Btw,it was a sloth and not a monster to give someone like you nightmares. So the rest of us can restrain our fight or flight instincts.

  34. adam

no shit it's a sloth hence the curved claws on both ends. bunch of pussy kids, if that thing was running and not slooooowly moving towards me i would have thrown rocks at it too. But given it's a sloth (cave sloth, furless, albino) these kids should be punished for being assclowns.

  35. adam

I think this is how the doedoe and other now extinct animals were wiped off this planet, for human ignorance of monster fairy tales out to get you. Think of all the awesome animals humans have made go extinct that we could have enjoyed today.. thank god we still have giraffes and elephants, etc.

maybe this is the only albino sloth on the planet :(

  36. Roy

Oh no, a few kids killed a sloth. If only they had been a natural predator and gutted, ripped up, and eaten the sloth. That would change everything!

I think I'm going to go kill a few squirrels just so you morons can cry about it and be able to feel something. Emo babies.

  37. aCe

I wonder how it tastes like….

  38. ROBERT

Adam-Thank you for your intelligent responses.I agree with you.And we need to feed some of these sub-humans to real carnivores.:)

  39. martel

    its a sloth!!!!!!

possible a turtle but wtf claws no its a sloth forsure

  40. martel

    slothhhhhh

  41. Ethan SON

    ITS A POKEMON!!! IT'S MEWTWO !!!!!

  42. im sorry to say, but if i was a kid playing by a river and a unlikly creature came out of the water or what ever. i would probably have killed it.. fearing for my life.. anybody who's been in the wild would no that anything could appear scary.. So all of you loser's that blame the kids for killing it need to shut the hell up because you've never been in that situation.. Idiots..

  43. Jose

The drowned sloth theory is what makes more sense to me, but why it has taken so long for authorities to provide a definitive identification? Not even the Smithsonian Institute in Panama has an answer?

@ Ian: do not post anything anywhere until you have reached at least the education of a fifth grader.

  44. ROBERT

For those afraid of the big bad sloth—what a bunch of scared, ignorant little shits you are! Pathetic.

  45. Josh

    You're all morons.

  46. Jared

So if they hadn't killed this animal, then we wouldn't know about it anyways. And I know someone is going to think/say, "well maybe if was the only one on earth" well then it would have eventually died and gone extinct anyways. I'm sure people will come up with other random things to say. Now, if you will all please excuse me, I am meeting with some people to go club baby seals, please shun me from society.

  47. Josh

This man knows what he talking about.

  48. JARED

And by the way, if God made something this ugly, he wanted it to be stoned to death. And now we are on to baby squirrels. Good bye my fans.

  49. frank

I don't know what that was. It could have been a sloth, it could have been an extra-terrestrial. Hell, it could have been a mutant. Who knows? It may have been a missing link or even a hoax, like so many that came before.

But if it was a real being, then it did have a right to exist, and the mentality that it's just a monster or an abomination is reminiscent of a time when people were ruled by superstition and fear of the unknown. It must have been that fear that caused those boys to beat it. If not, then they were simply being cruel–hurting it because it's different. What does that say about our society, if we're ready to burn someone at the stake because they don't believe what we believe? It's the same thing in this case, except for the animal-like appearance. We don't know if it was sentient and therefore had a will of its own. Whatever happened to accepting one's differences? I see this escalating in the future.

The younger generation has violent tendencies, like someone said above. They live in indifference and disrespect for all that is around them, and therefore don't understand the significance of that violent act, or any other for that matter. Perhaps this shouldn't be stated as a blanket statement, because not everyone in the younger generation is like that, but that appears to be the trend.

Like the dodo and the sea mink before it, this too may be a rare species gone extinct, and the younger generation appears not to give a damn—read APPEARS. I weep for the future if that's the way it will be, and hope that it's just their youthful arrogance that makes them act this way and not a generational thing. That's a terrifying thought.

  50. kyle the man

dude frank honestly you and robert can suck a fat one,i dont give a shit what you think you would do in that situation, you werent in it your just trying to get high on yourself thinking your so righteous if you were a poorly educated kid in Panama you would think it was a monster they arent psychotic kids they were scared, and robert they didnt know if it was a sloth and nobody even knows now so who are you to judge them you guys are the sub-humans for thinking your better i bet my left nut youd do the same thing in their situation.

    fuck you robert and frank,

  51. Trevor

I mean if i was a kid and i saw that thing, first thing in my mind wouldn't be "ohh look, i bet scientist could capture it and study it." I'd throw a rock at it too if i didn't know any better.

  52. ROBERT

Frank–Insightful statement.Yes,fear dominates this world and ignorance breeds it.Whatever life is different is feared and persecuted by the ignorant.Whether or not the sloth story("The Panama Monster")is factual or a hoax,it WAS the remains of some type of sloth. If it was killed,it was just killed, not killed in self-defence since a sloth is a slow moving, tree dwelling herbivore. And KYLE THE MAAAAN..you could bet both your nuts since you don't have anything to lose you chicken shit half-wit! :)

  53. ROBERT

For a lot of the rest of you,we might as well ask a bunch of school children what they would do if they saw a MONSTER.Kill it they say–eat it they say—hehehe hahah.. Morons!

  54. Jose

Regardless this sloth (or whatever it is) was actually killed or not by the kids, a fair morality judgment must consider the intention and premeditation of the "crime". Yes, killing a harmless animal is a shame, but assuming that these kids were hunting rare creatures, or that they hate anything just because it´s different, that´s speculation, probably motivated by a reaction similar to that experienced by the kids in this story.

  55. Tj

have any of you seen the movie "the desent" ?

well for those of you who have this looks to me like a recreation of one of those monsters, in real life. it does seem to be a sloth because sloths would look damn near exactly like that if they were to be skinned..

  56. jesse

i know me some animals…. it looks like a boiled sloth, hence the missing fur… i think panama is pulling some shananagins….

  57. This really look like some form of a humans body,so i guess this is what happens when sisters and brothers of the same bloodline have SEX this is the way the baby come looking

  58. ROBERT

Karen……..hahaha…So stop having sex with your brother;) By the intelligence of this posting of yours I suspect your mother and father were unaware of that cardinal rule.

  59. Ian

It doesnt look like it has any marks from being stoned to deathl. Pretty sure it was dead in the water and washed up.

  60. Gon

Can we make tacos out of it….

  61. Theffier

So… Has anyone actually got any scientific proof about whether this creature was genuine? Here we are debating what it is, and unless someone can point me to an article, there's been no lab – based study of the creature. And excuse me for asking, but where are the wounds on the creature from where the little dipshits stoned it? I used to work at the Natural History Museum in central London, a Marine Biology major and to be honest have seen my share of fatal wounds on creatures. I can't see anything on the body that suggests it was stoned, I think the kids in question were lying to make themselves look big. Any rocks thrown hard enough to cause trauma to kill the creature would have left far more prominent wounds. It would either require head trauma, something the photo shows nothing of, or several very large rocks to the stomach which would have killed the creature slowly and very painfully. I see no proof of either, and the conveniently chewed remains mean we'll most likely never know. My guess is that if it is indeed real, it's simply a mutation that washed up on the river bank, these kids found it and crapped themselves, making up a story about killing it to make themselves feel better.

  62. wan

what the fuckk ……… if i was in the woods i wouldd probaly run but keep track of it but maybe those teens got scared you dont know the whoe fukin stry. i would have to agree that it is a sloth but life is life things die and thats just how things work

  63. Said

  67. don't know

Nobody said anything about an enlightened age. We are animal too. I'm sick of people saying "stupid humans." Glad to see you think we've transcended the homo sapiens and the root instincts of survival that got us this far. Glad to see it got us far enough for you to bitch about them.

The thing looks diseased. The thing is unknown. The thing is comeing at you. You can't tell it to stay away like a person with a cold and it won't stop. Sometimes I think that you people won't be satisfied until a headline reads "Four Teens Found Dead Near Cave in Panama.' or "Patient Zero from Cerro Azul Panama."

  68. Human nature

Yeah, Human's have had an effect on extinction of animals but we haven't been around for that long. Nature decides what lives or dies and whether you like it or not you're a part of that process. Any other process in nature be it animal or otherwise could have caused extinctions, but the minute it's caused by a human it's "fuckin humans" from the human haters. If you hate it so much, find a way out or shut up. Nature gives everything a shot at life; rights are something you made up you're head. We are just as susceptible to what happened to that creature by any other living thing in this universe.

  69. ct

Hi found out about this site from friend ,does anyone know when this was found and did anyone reallly find out what it was ! it does loook like sloth ,but just wondering if they really had found out ? thanks

  70. nali

    You all FAIL.

gawd, there's no reason to defend it! it's dead, goddam it!

    Bull. Freaking. Shit.

Plus- if you believe this, you're more gullible than can be conceived. And here you all are- arguing about the goddam thing!

It is clearly a sloth, its skull and appendages give it away.

  71. devens

I belive these sick kids killed a sloth for fun though it in the water. within time it decomposed with in months kids returned. i could be wrong, but the only thing i belive i could be wrong about is how long it takes for an animal to decompose in water. either way iv i was frightened of an animal i would not hang around to kill it, esspecialy if it moves quickly, its only gonna move quicker when being attacked. these kids are just typical tortures

  72. Alyssa

Clearly the kids threw a bunch of rocks at it because it was scary. if that thing popped up at me I wouldn't hesitate to attack it before it attacks me. Its common sense and human nature.

  73. EDDY

    @Alyssa

How can people be so insensitive? It is not human nature to attack any type of harmless being, no matter how scary, Alyssa, if you read the text above, it states, "emerged from behind a waterfall and looked like it was going to attack" not "popped up behind the teens and tried to attack them". It may have just wanted abit of fresh air and only have been minding his own business.

P.S. if it was an 'albino' sloth, albino's aren't supposed to be exposed to sunlight for to long, so why would it have been 'outside'?

  74. ROBERT

Whether the story is real or not–THOSE ARE THE PICTURES OF A SLOTH WITHOUT IT'S FUR.Anyone who knows anything about sloths know that they move verrrrrryyyyy slowwwwlllly-Have you never seen a sloth in a tree before? It's been said that if you were to cut the limb off of a sloth it wouldn't bleed to death quickly because it's heart rate is sooo slowwww.Bottom line–Sloths move like turtles,so having to evade one would never be an issue. So a slow moving herbivore wouldn't be ATTACTING anyone! :) ) Those who say you'd be scared if it attacked you too are Fucking Idiots! :) )

  75. Based upon the country in which it was found and the number of claws that you can count on the hand of the corpse, I feel rather strongly that this was an example of the Brown-throated Sloth (Bradypus variegatus). It's the only species of three-toed sloth that lives in Panama, and normal specimens are actually rather famous eco-tourism subjects in that nation. More likely than not, it developed some kind of condition similar to full-blown alopecia in human beings (a disease which renders the body entirely hairless).

And I agree with so many posters on this board… the creature's death was probably a case of teenagers having fun by killing a helpless creature. If they were truly THAT scared, they would have noticed the sloths unbearably slow movement and fled rather than sticking around to bludgeon it with stones. They certainly would've been too scared to touch the creature in order to hurl into the river.

  76. Another few notes after a bit more contemplation:

Other posters make a good point that the creature doesn't really show any obvious signs of blunt trauma. No "black-and-blues", no jagged, punctured skin… it does seem incongruous with the notion that it was stoned to death.

But assuming that it actually WAS stoned, let me make a side-note to the other posters here that claim that the teenagers were justified in killing the obviously helpless, slow-moving creature just because it "looked scary":

You are the same breed of dense, dim-witted fools that incited such backwards things as the Salem Witch Trials and Spanish Inquisition. To feel justified in hastily killing those things that scare you is just plain pitiful. That you would reveal your ignorance here as if such a perspective is rational goes to show just how oblivious and childish you really are.

"Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."

  77. ROBERT

Thank you Justin C! Intelligently considered and well spoken.

"Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue."

I agree with your views. R.

  78. Tommy

Okay… to everyone who is dissaproving of them killing it, just remember back when you were young, didn't you fear the unknown?

Also, why the hell are you sticking up for an animal, when we have kids that get tortured for days if not years, all arround the world.

Let's work on getting rid of human on human violence before we worry about what some kids in panama did to some critter.

  79. APE

OK READING EVERYONES COMMENTS. I AM A BIT SUPRISED THAT HUMANS ARE THIS MEAN. REGARDLESS OF WHAT IT WAS IT WAS INTERESTING. I GREW UP ON A FARM AND LOVED FINDING NEW THINGS. NEVER KILLED THEM. WHY WOULD YOU KILL SOMETHING OR SUPPORT KILLING SOMETHING THAT YOU KNEW NOTHING ABOUT? WHY NOT CALL THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS AND IF ANYTHING WAS HARMFULLY WRONG WITH IT THAT COULD AFFECT THE SURROUNDING AREA AND EVERYTHING AND EVRYONE IN THAT AREA? THE INSENSITIVE PEOPLE THAT HAVE MADE VERY HARSH COMMENTS, THINK FOR JUST A FEW MINUTES AND ACTUALLY THINK ABOUT THIS. WHAT IF NO ONE HAD EVER SEEN YOU BEFORE? WOULD YOU ACTUALLY EXPECT TO BE KILLED FOR NOTHING? I THINK NOT!!!!!!!!

  80. APE

OH AND KIDS AND GROWN UPS ALIKE THAT HAVE THE MENTALITY TO KILL OTHERS INCLUDING ANIMALS ARE MORE SIENTIFICALLY PROVEN TO BE MORE LIKELY TO BE AGGRESIVE AND MAY EVEN KILL OTHER HUMANS AT SOME POINT AND TIME. SO ….. NOT IN DEFENSE OF ANIMALS AT ALL, I AM A HUNTER AND HAVE DONE SO. BUT IF I HAD SEEN THIS ANIMAL I WOULD HAVE BEEN CURIOUS AND CALLED THE RIGHT AUTHORITIES TO FIND OUT WHAT IT WAS FIRST. JUST AS SHOULD ANYONE ELSE SHOULD HAVE DONE. ITS COMPLETELY INSANE BEHAVIOR TO STONE ANYTHING TO DEATH. JUST IMAGINE IF THAT PART IS TRUE HOW MUCH PAIN AND SUFFURING THAT POOR CREATURE WENT THROUGH FOR NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND WE LEARNED NOTHING BECAUSE OF IT.

  81. "Also, why the hell are you sticking up for an animal, when we have kids that get tortured for days if not years, all arround the world."

Although I sympathize vaguely with your sentiments, Tommy, they are really completely irrelevant to the issue being discussed here. That children 'get tortured for days…all around the world' in no way validates the incidental murder of a helpless animal. Your blending entirely unrelated ideas in order to make a sweeping value judgment where one is simply not called for.

I suppose that the mere fact that children occasionally suffer in this world justifies them in killing anything they please without being reprimanded…? Is that their proverbial 'toy prize' for enduring pain?

Look… I'm not "defending" the animal. I certainly have no ambitious desire to head out to Panama and punish the teenagers. It is what it is. But if you step back from the entire scenario of the Panama Monster as it has been recounted (assuming the story is even true), it is clear that the creature was senselessly and unjustifiably killed simply because it LOOKS frightening… not because it posed ANY actual threat whatsoever. This is a classic case of 'shooting first and asking questions later'… too late to get any realistic answers. Cops that do that get banned from the force, Tommy… and rightly so.

It's funny… here we are: modern humans that essentially dominate the Earth. We've laid waste to just about every species that poses a threat to us (and thousands more that never meant us harm), yet we still can't seem to stop acting like scared prey animals. How we pity ourselves for occasionally being afraid of things!

  82. sophia

    OMG !!

this is so scary ! I still shaking because of he pictures.

Do you think is real? I guess it is, but I've got a lot of questions about it.

Im afriaid. But I also know that its just CANNOT be real, its exactly like the mermaid of Canada and the Monster of Loch Ness…it just NOT REAL.

Its not exsist in this reality, but what make childrens say that?

Oh, Gosh, I don't know what to think !

    help me..

weird that there is hair there !!

  85. vianey

i wonder if they shaved a sloth and said it was a monster?

  86. hai

This really disturbs me to see, one that it was killed yes, but

I must admit, I might have done the same thing. That's the other thing that disturbs me: it. Probably wasn't that threatening, but it still brings madness to my thoughts.

  87. I absolutely agree with Justin C. This poor creature was just minding its own business, living in its own home, and those brats just decided to kill it. Can you imagine a turtle chasing kids over rocks, coming to "attack" them? That's about the pace that a sloth could reach. They can barely walk on land as it is. And if I had seen this animal, I would have observed it before deciding on any move. And I know that I would have left it alone.

It is obviously a sloth of some type. They move very slowly and rarely come down from the trees, unless they have to take a dump. (Yeah, classy, I know.) They are very gentle, harmless leaf-eating mammals and the reason they have such large claws is that so they can hang from tree limbs. They have even been known to grow moss from their backs. These animals have always fascinated me because they look like creatures from another planet.

And as a child, my family had camped numerous times out in the wilds of the northern forests and the southern deserts of California. I just naturally knew to respect the local wildlife. When out in the desert, I used to climb boulder-covered hills. At one time I was leaping down the boulders and I heard a rattlesnake rattle. I just hollered out, "Rattlesnake!!!!" and kept on going. No harm to the snake, no harm to me. Live and let live, you know?

This world would be a lot better place if we just let animals the hell alone, unless we're protecting them from poachers. But then I guess that's redundant. (dunno if that's the right word or not)

Oh yeah, and that creepy movie that one guy described was called "The Descent". I just watched it last night on SyFy. And those things were movie monsters, blind, cave-dwelling flesh eaters, not sloths! And their monstrosity seemed to transfer to the women themselves. Interesting flick.

  88. All you booger-eating morons need to learn how to spell and how to complete a sentence. I could barely read a lot of these comments. If this is the future of humanity then I feel sad for all of us, and for all of the animals too. We don't deserve this planet. Animals rule!

And I hope that poor creature gets a decent buriel. But still, I hope they find out more about it even though the vultures snacked on it.

There are many more creatures on this earth than we know about. Try checking out the bottoms of the deepest oceans.

    Mocogirl

  89. courteney

It looks like a sloth that dicided to go like in a drak hole and it got all mutated and lost its hair. Or some crazy kind of animal….what if theres more…and they eat humans.. o.o

  90. zim

    bro….?,bro?

    JIMMY!

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

looks like a piece of blown up oily latex to me.

How did these kids know to bring a camera anywayz?

  91. See, this is just what I was talking about. The poor thing didn't even look like it had teeth.

And Courteney, you need to go back to school to learn how to spell.

And if this critter wanted to eat humans, let it. No loss.

You need to rent "The Descent" to find out what real movie monsters eat. (Hint:people!)

Sorry if I sound snarky but I have no patience with stupidity.

And I'm sure I will get all kinds of comments about me being a bitch but I don't give a shit.

I'm just disgusted that that poor creature didn't deserve being killed in that manner. (If it was killed, since there were no apparent wounds.)

People are just plain fucking stupid. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

    mocogirl

  92. Oh yeah, one more thing. There is this female sculptor who creates these really realistic creatures. I can't remember her name, dammit. But this looks like something that she could create. I've seen pictures on YouTube of her other creations. These weird, hybrid human/animal creatures.

But that poor thing looks so pitiful that I really hope it's fake.

    mocogirl

  93. For anyone that's interested, I've created a side-by-side comparison of the Panama Monster and the sloth.

    The Panama Mystery:

A Systematic Debunking of the Monster from Panama

    http://justincoleman.myplus.org/articles/panama_m…

  94. Justin C, thanks for the article. It was very interesting and informative. I think sloths are fascinating animals. I loved the pic with the momma and baby sloth. These animals need protection since they seem so helpless. People suck.

    mocogirl

  95. That woman that created the weird creatures is named Patricia Piccinini. Check her out on the internet. She makes the strangest animal/human hybrids. Very realistic. And check out the rat-woman. Also, check out Rotten.com for their weird news articles. That’s where I found out about this story.
And again, IT WAS A DAMNED SLOTH!

if it was the last one then it was going to be extinct anyways

to the idiots who cant post without cussing

    really…

    grow up

oh and for those who think that this reflects on our society. umm NO

our scoiety and panama's society dont have much in common (im assuming you're from a developped nation as you're using a computer)

twenty year old gamer nerd here so i might be a little biased but why is it that the older generations always see the younger as the problem.you made us what we are. accept it.

  98. Jose

teach, your information about Panama is sooooo wrong. Just to give you an idea of what´s going on around here, Panama City (in Panama, not Florida) is more modern, more cosmopolitan, and with taller skyscrapers than all but very few cities in the States, say like NYC or LA. If you don´t live in one of these cities, you won´t get in your local shop more variety of cool gadgets and technology (including whatever videogame you can think of) than you can get in Panama. How many luxury car dealers do you have in your city? We have MANY in Panama, including names like Ferrari and Maserati.

  99. Grad

Robert you have to get a life man

Jose, you are right Panama City is awesome

  100. willy

    u all blow

  101. ranodom guy

a decedent of a giant sloth

  102. Ok…so first of all you all shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet. I saw one person mention the same thing I was thinking. The lack of perspective in these pictures, there is nothing to give perspective on the size, BUT, it the after photo, where it has begun to decay, if you take the grass close by as an indicator, this is not a giant sloth as mentioned, but what I believe to be a sloth fetus. It is infact very small. Throw out the story about the boys and stoning it, and walking out from a cave or what ever, thats just viral marketing. This is a sloth fetus, its very small, it hasn't developed hair yet, nor teeth. Yes its sad its dead, but chances are, some guys with a camera probably just happened across it, took the photos, and started the internet rumors for fun.

  103. Jose

Ok guys, here´s "The Panama Monster II", enjoy it!

    http://www.tvn-2.com/noticias/noticias_detalle.as…

  104. Beth

I think its quite the hoax, and I also do not think that they stoned the poor thing to death. Here is why I think that: for starters, it doesn't appear to have any bruises or lacerations that would be present if it were indeed beaten to death with sticks and stones. (I've read a few places that said also with sticks.) Secondly, when a dead animal is the water for a while, (as in perhaps the sloth died and fell out of a tree into the water or something) the hair will fall out. I am not entirely sure why hair does that, but I think its something with the body no longer being able to keep pores tight when it gets water logged.

Hrmph. What people will do when they want their fifteen minutes of fame.

  105. Nunya

Okay its dead there's nothing we can do for it now so stop bitching.

But why isn't somebody taking it in for testing or for some type of diagnostics..? Or is this creatue still laying in the creek as we blog?

The fact that no1 is even considering to do this make me think the whole thing is fake.

  106. it a manegy slothe you people

its bin in the water and in the sun so

it has to have somed decae

and some buzzards got to it before the any one else did SO THATS WHY ITS DEFORMED.

no one has tooken it for a dignostic is that every one knoes that its a stupid sloth!

  107. what would you do if you saw a creasutre like that?

I know what I would do.

kill the thing once it gets one foot distence close to me.

pellt the thing with rocks, like those kids.

thats a way to get rid that is a way to get

rid of some thing that ugly .

    freak of nature!

  108. Daniel

Those kids weren't scared. If you get scared by something your first instinct is to run not stand around looking for rocks to throw at it.

And throwing it into the water sounds a bit sadistic to me (i wouldn't let small kids hang around these boys)

And yea it does look like a sloth and anybody who knows anything about animals know that sloths move slow so really how much of a threat could this animal be.

One more thing aint Sloths endangered and if so will there be any criminal charges?

  109. jaCOB black

Looks like a Mewtwo to me.

  110. grape

I would capture IT and keep IT as a pet… And id call IT "Grease Monkey"

  111. dann

As for the lack of evident bruising: Bruising (black and blue marks) occur when the heart pumps blood to damaged tissue. If an organism dies from the first blow, subsequent blows will not result in bruising because the heart has already stopped pumping so no blood is being sent to the sites of impact.

As for worrying about "children being hurt around the world being more important than an animal being hurt" (that is not a direct quote), violence is violence, no matter where it is directed. When we say that violence against any living thing is okay, we are making a statement that it is okay against ANY living thing. We don't think that's what we are saying and there will be many arguments with my assertion, but who gets to say which violence is okay and which is not? Is it my opinion where that line is drawn, or is it yours? Is it the State's, the Court's, the Cops'…? My religion or yours? It's okay if the person you are attacking is smaller than you, weaker than you, or it is an animal, or a person from a "dark continent" who is a savage and not worthy of full human rights? (humans used that one a lot in the past and felt fully justified in doing so.) What about if they are from a race that has a religious ideology that is different from the one you grew up with? Maybe their God looks different from yours, or maybe they have none at all?

What makes it okay to take a violent action against any living thing? In the end, is it just because you're bigger and YOU CAN? That's pretty weak…and and maybe even pathetic.

When we say that NO VIOLENCE toward ANYONE OR ANYTHING is where the line is drawn, we are finally on our way to a peaceful and inclusive world.

  112. He is an oversized sloth with no hair

  113. awesome dude, let's party

  114. pFc

umm, yeah, tell that peace crap to Iran, they'll be happy to show you the light…

  115. yo

just FYI: if you get close enough to a sloth, they get vicious.

  116. yo

sorry, let me rephrase that: if you get close enough to an ANGRY sloth, they're vicious.

  117. Its strange whatever it is, no reason to kill it though.

  118. TiG

WTF??? It's a Sloth, and they skinned it.. probably alive! Who wouldn't know what a Sloth looks like? (Idiots don't count). That's why they put the poor thing in the water.. to wash off the blood.. destroying the evidence. I say STONE THE MONSTERS THAT STONED THAT POOR, HELPLESS ANIMAL!!! No wonder we as Humans will NEVER have a decent chance meeting others! Because of immature little punks just like them! People make me sick!

  119. Jessica SImpson

That is not a sloth…………….. It is but ugly and sidckening

  120. ball suck 69

you are all ignorant fags taking it in the but bithchs

  121. sean

this is obviously a big miss under standing! they were kids. dont blame them for being pussies and hot trying to see what it was instead of killing it. i for one would have assessed the situation first and then made my decision on what to do… they were cowards.

  122. sean

    fags

  123. Did you heard what Rob Matts said about that?

  124. I Can't Say Itz Not A Weird Looking Thing, but It Is A sloth!

  125. sai

haiztt… i just passed by.. uhmmm its just so pathetic that we all just feed on a poor things death when infact we could have done the same thing.. =(

  126. bella

it could be a new tipe of creature im mean there are animals thats sinece has never seen befor and i mean like it could be a new spices of a sloth or it could be a monster

  127. LISTEN TO BLACK METAL!!!

Thatll explain all those goody monsters and funny looking things.

Oh and burn the church and fuck religion.

  128. Sky

What type of kids in the modern age would want to play near a creek? Most kids today have all types of gadgets to be entertained with. Sounds like a bogus story to me.

  129. why arnt they doing resarch on it

    http://videogame2play.com/wp-content/uploads/2009…

  134. john

First off I see all these people say on here What they would do in that kind of situation. Well I’m here to tell you that you all don’t have the slightest on what you would do. No I’m not sticking up for them kids but none of you where there so who are you to judge. Any human or animal work off of Fight or Flight when they have to. So to say that you wouldn’t kill anything is contradicting, Because you have no idea what you are going to do till you are put in that position. So I think all you people weather young or old KEEP AN OPEN MIND!!! I can only say what I have done not what I would do. I was in Iraq and I did everything I could to stay alive and anyone of you would have done what you could do to stay alive. Just think about what you say before you say it.

  135. Jim

Its probably some type of hairless sloth. But if you a teenager and this creepy creature comes out from in a cave, you probable would be extremely scared, so you would try to defend yourself.

  136. COPS

    OMG SOMEONE KILLED ET

  137. rachel

what if a sloth and a manatee mated.. in the water. there are swimming sloths, and if u think about it, if it was living in a cave andaround water all the time, it may lose it's fur, or it could be a seriously stressed out animal and lost its fur, because that happens to. but olms are cool and i could totally see where u'd put all those animals in the same category of looks

  138. stone the thing

dude its fine its a f-ing sloth calm down theres alot more of them to go around

  139. sarah

I thought. It was like some albino type thing. It really didden't need to die. And it says sloth…yes i can see that. and if the stoned it to death or were hitting it with a stick. It was probably all swolen because of being in the water. that why it looks kinda weird. i dunno.

  140. Rob

    stfu quit crying

  141. Rorek

thank you sir. you have stated my thoughts for me. i appreciate it.

  142. Jhon

You need a Zantax, then a few rounds of whiskey.

You obviously have a relaxing problem.

  143. mattdealer

everyone who says its not a monster is a dumb bitch and they dont know anything about fuckin monsters

  144. halie

i know they could at lesttryed to see how it would act the boys a dum we could have saved it

  145. Matt

its the scout for the mole people… they were finally ready to emerge

  146. Mr. D

just gotta say i dont think lil punks should have killed it…thing looks harmless the money that could have been made if it was captured alive >:)

  147. Otto

    dude… wtf about killing torrestrials?…
have you never watched "independence day" or "war of the worlds"? :b lol

  148. Otto

    whats with the cap?
and ofcourse you holyness, if something skinny, bald with big claws were moving towards you, you would just help the poor thing and bring it to a vet.. damn.. i hate it when people are so damn holy or whatever.. makes me sick!

  149. Steve

I would just like to find the sick bastard that shaved and killed this sloth.

  150. taylor bluesea

lmao u guys are funny i say its an alien or someones playing around with science expierments but either way them kids did what they were supose to do "they fudge that thing up" lol its strange an was coming towards them i would have done the same thumbs up to the panamas they dont play look at how the fucked that thing up its tounge hanging out lol thumbs up keep the aliens out

  151. I think, that you are mistaken. Lets discuss it. Write to me in PM.

  152. Mother Nature

    ….wow you guys are dumb.

Think, kids see this thing coming at them. Omg I don't know what that is, what if its gunna hurt me!

Kids get scared, kids do shit, stop this Human race is evil shit.

Most people that say that don't even believe it, they just say it to give themselves a place in society or possibly just an image they think is cool.

So if your post says, I can't believe humans would do this! Please, you are not making the world a better place in any shape way or form so get off your high horse.

Anyway, that mofo is ugly, but what questions me is why these weird ass creatures aren't picked up and torn apart for research?

Tho I think its probably just a sloth with a birth defect or something.

  153. gummybear

poor thing why cant ppl just give things a chance. i mean what if some one chucked rocks at your head. they could have gave the little thing a chance. if feel bad for it and i hope there r more of them out there some wheere and one day maybe some one will find them and we will have a name to put with this litte guy and every one will stop calling it a monster….and if you really think about mabye that one was a bay to some thing much bigger and it never hadf a chance and it gave them a chance bet all it wanted was food or just to see what the ppl were and all they could think to do is kill it.. murder it in cold blood…but you know what if that was a person layin there those kids would be in jail. think about it. how dose its life matter less then ours

  154. Caroline

Yes, it is sad that this "sloth" was brutilized and killed in such a primitive manner.
However, if these teens were genuinely perplexed by this creature coming toward them, and feared for their saftey, this act of violence is justifyable…
I do feel very sad for this animal.. but we don't really know what happened that day, and therefore we shouldn't pass any judgements on these kids.
BTW, for all you people who are calling humans monsters and saying we need to change–remember that we would have never evolved into the people we are today, living in this "enlightened" era, if it weren't for our hunter/gatherer ancestors whom founded the civilizations that are rooted to our exsistance. What some might call primitive is part of our nature. We used to personally kill every meal we ate–now we don't have to but remember that it still happens.. Just because blood isn't on your hands doesn't mean billions of animals aren't slaughtered each year, that probably feed YOU.
But regardless, I hope this poor little animal rests in peace. :(

  155. Caroline

I don't think that a fetus of a sloth would have those massive claws.. But i'm not sure!
That fact that there is no point of reference is a great observation too.. very interesing

  156. Beth

man u rock! im 13 and the first things i thought when i saw thet "creature" was 1)it was obviously a sloth 2) that thing has been floating around in the water for days no teens killed it now its been nice talking to u but the chupacabra just came through my door i need to go grab a rock!

  157. Sammy

It is a hairless sloth. The claws explain it all. But I can't believe those teens first instinct was to kill the poor thing, thats disgusting and they should be ashamed.

  158. animals have rights

did anyone get a team to go looking in the cave to see if there were more of these creatures dont u think that would have been the first thought after it was dead and why kill it unless it was like running after u and by the way the eyes look the animal was probably blind it probably depended on echo locatation so it wouldnt have come after them and i dont think the teens were actually playing and then saw it they probably saw a this thing making noises sick so they killed it! some one should take samples to see what the animal was

  159. cottonmouth willy

i bellive it was a genetic mutation like a sloth that was adapepted to life in a cave. its a sloth theres noo doubt about it the feet give it away. just think a whole new step in evolotion could have been stoped becouse of some stupid kids. but i dont know if telling some one would have been a beter solution. does a life of experiments and testing sound healthy for an animal. it would have been beter to just leave it alone but of course thats not gona happen

  160. Nathan

So, this weird fucking thing comes out of no where, and you and your friends are alone in the woods. Now, living in Panama all your life, you have encountered a lot of dangerous wild animals, and have never seen this disgusting, scary looking creature before. So, naturally you try killing it, to be safe. I would have killed that thing also, if I didn't get the fuck out of there first.

  161. Dave

were you there daniel knower of all things foreign and mysterious???? i think not you stupid bimbo… all im sayng is you dont know how it moved what sort of posture it had or anything plus we wont know ever because its DEAD

  163. dave

cause everyone knows panama has corrosive waters that make your hair fall out… also is it a sloth? are you qualified to make that observation? idk but whatever floats your boat i guess

  164. dave

    dip… shit…

  165. dave

so you know everyone in the younger generation is violent huh what of columbine or the crucifixtions way back in the day thats violent to bimbo

  170. dave

i like your bluntness and knowing that it was a high stress situation… plus one insight!

  171. dave

dumb ass… hey you are missing some info on the evolutionary chain, there has to be more than one for it to procreate… food for thought………………………

  172. Jennifer

well, i would have ran as fast as i could have away from that creature. Also, did any one even do DNA tests to see what it was?? i think it was a sloth that was probably sick or released back into the wild after some wierd science experiment

  173. jeffer

This is clearly a sloth who has mange(a hair loss disease). But i guess nowadays people are so thick brained that this thought did not struck them before they decided to brutally murder a helpless creature.Plus why go for exploring if u are so freaked out by the sight of animals.Just because it doesn' look like something the human race has encountered before it doesn't make it a monster.I think these teenagers were not afraid of it in the first place. They just thought that it would be a really cool thing to show off and boast to your friends that you killed a 'monster', when they themselves knew that it was just a sloth who could not fight back.

  174. My spouse and i have been absolutely glad that Peter could finish up his investigations from your ideas he discovered while using the web site. It’s not at all simplistic to simply continually be freely giving steps that most people may have been making money from. Therefore we grasp we have the blog owner to appreciate for that. It is indeed a frightening sight. I myself would have runaway…at least to a distance. I think curiosity would have won me over. I don't think I could ever stone an animal. In defence yes, to kill..not so much.

    Poor thing.
Does remind me of Gollum tho…never did like him much. Creepy.

Humans are the inatley ba d beings. Animals are innocent by nature. These kids were idiotic and cowardly. This animal doesnt even look like it has teeth.

I hope you get the chance to be in their shoes one day and the creature is dangerous and it kills you.

  199. Hi there, You’ve performed a great job. I?ll certainly digg it and in my opinion recommend to my friends. I’m confident they’ll be benefited from this site.

havent you ever seen mars attacks?? we tried being nice.

  201. Emily

Please don't group all teenagers into that category, I'm 16 and I'm not like that, I find what you said to be quite derogatory, not all teens are like that.

  202. ou actually make it appear really easy together with your presentation but I in finding this matter to be actually one thing that I believe I might by no means understand. It sort of feels too complex and very extensive for me. I am taking a look forward in your subsequent publish, I¡¦ll attempt to get the dangle of it!

  203. This web site is known as a stroll-via for all the data you wished about this and didn’t know who to ask. Glimpse here, and also you’ll positively discover it.

  204. sallert

i don't think that this creature wasn't trying to attack..
if i would meat this kind of creature trying to attack me i would've stoned it as well.. everyone has to think of ones own safety first even if it ONLY LOOKED like it was trying to attack even if it wasn't.
when you are in danger you have to defend yourself.. no matter what the method is
but i agree about those teenager being heartless and obviously not afraid of it because they threw it into the water like you mentioned but only IF they threw it into the water.. (i'm not so sure if they did it or not)
i do agree that its bad to make fun of a dead creature its just wrong..
disrespecting the dead is the lowest.. human or animal OR monster

Even though I really take pleasure in the convo happening here… I do have a very quick problem that I really need to have answered prior to the day’s end. I am close to do business with Comcast 3103 E Grant Ave Fresno CA 93702 – (559) 354-9118, but am a bit skeptical. I’ve had some debt consolidation businesses during the past not take care of me well, so I want to stay clear of that through getting some other consumers ideas on them.

it sure does look like a sloth, but examine it some more, the rocks size comparison to the body, sloths cannot grow that large, nor live in caves, cannot run, and probably would have been harder to hit with a rock. the facial structure and body-shape are much different, more like a human, but sloth like arms and hands/claws. but this creature in not a monster, more like an animal with a genetic mutation.
