This Week’s 9/11 Exploitation Ad
Last week, it was the World Wildlife Fund’s just plane tasteless terror ad created by DDB Brazil; an ad industry insiders were quick to call a fake, but ended up being quite real. Today, via another Omnicom agency (BBDO Moscow), we present a digital papercraft Twin Towers project for the Moscow News. Well, at least the art director didn’t make little falling body paper pieces. The Moscow News is a free weekly English language paper founded in 1930 by American socialist Anna Louise Strong, according to Wikipedia. At their website, you’ll find their sort-of tagline: “From Stalin’s mouthpiece to Russia’s wake-up call.” Sure, I bet Putin’s shitting his camo pants. Here’s a wake-up call for the world’s ad creatives from New Yorkers: retain your stupid WTC attack visuals in the mush of your brains. Thank you. |Image: Coloribus, where there’s also a Hiroshima version|

Gee, since it’s the Moscow news, why did they show the Twin Towers and not a similar hypothetical event happening at the Kremlin and St. Basil’s?
They should have listened to George Patton during WW II and taken Russia OUT right there and then and marched on to take China out. Imagine what the world would have looked like now. There wouldn’t have been a “Cold War” and China would have remained what they were then, or even less than the Third World Nation they’re emerging from now minus “the bomb” of both Countries.
What do we have to do, get it copyrighted, before they’ll quit this kind of crap? Seen any ads depicting the 1998 massacre of tourists in Luxor or the 2004 Madrid metro bombing? Why do we get singled out for this?
