Can’t Read? Read This.

I HEART NWE YROK

Puzzling public service poster placed in Bushwick, one of the poorer NYC neighborhoods. I didn’t text the number, but this is apparently an ad—paid for in-part I guess by Kaplan—for the non-profit pre-school literacy organization Jumpstart. I guess they’re looking for volunteers and donations, in which case, this is far from the ideal location (Upper West Side?) for this jumblegram advert. At the Jumpstart website, you’re met with a corresponding banner ad—I (heart) RAEDNIG—which invites you to take a short quiz on your knowledge of illiteracy. My knowledge is limited, but I think placing an ad that kinda mocks illiterates in a NYC neighborhood with a higher percentage of illiterate people isn’t the smartest move.

It’s true! People never want to help their own community! All help should come from outside! Thank god we have mavericks like Copyranter!

  2. .....

I saw this ad at the spring street subway so its all over

  3. The creative execution of the poster, irregardless of the placement, is a fail.

How is someone who can’t read expected to, well, read this?

  5. That’s in me and Bucky’s hood!

  6. Way to invite the stalkers Cajun.

  7. Da Heights rulez, you Brooklyn pussies!

  8. @copyranter…Son, you couldn’t walk to deli across the street from Woodhull Hospital for a Mountain Dew without having your soul and ass raped, so just leave the smack talk on the UWS where all the faux hoodlums live.

  9. Um, I’m not really a fan of my turf, northern Washington Heights. Minus Fort Tryon Park, it’s a butt-ugly neighborhood.

  10. .....

no one in brooklyn can read anyway.
