This is one of the most infuriating mistakes that so many writers make. Think about it logically: you're trying to staying that you do not care about polls, that they are of no importance to you. If you "could care less", this implies that you actually care a bit about them, but could care a little bit less if needs be. That is not what you are trying to say here. You need to say that you "couldn't care less", because this implies that they are of absolute zero importance to you. Normally I wouldn't correct grammar mistakes like this, but the increasing prevalence of "could care less" is my main bugbear. It's "I couldn't care less", not "I could care less"!
