In Less Than 24 Hours, Bronson Pinchot Firmly Establishes Himself as the World’s Most Annoying Blogger

Last week the actor Bronson Pinchot, perhaps best known as Balki Bartokomous on Perfect Strangers, burst back on the public scene with a brutally honest and tremendously endearing AV Club interview in which he insinuated that Tom Cruise was a raging homophobe during the filming of Risky Business, Bette Midler is a raging bitch and Denzel Washington is a pompous asshole. Then just yesterday a blog written by Bronson Pinchot popped up on Tumblr and I now feel overcome with an unrelenting urge to murder Bronson Pinchot. Read more »

Artist To Reveal His ‘Dark Doings’

Next week, trompe-l’Å“il street artist Dan Witz will open a solo show of his sad summer series, “Dark Doings.” Featuring sinister images of animals and people trapped behind closed doors, the fuax-window installations are the New York-based artist’s latest attempt “to make obvious in your face art that ninety-nine percent of the people who walk by won’t notice.” Befitting the artist’s wishes, the exhibition opens in pedestrian-unfriendly Los Angeles, from November 5 through December 3rd at Carmichael Gallery.

KR Commissioned to Cover Car With Drips

In a cross-promotional publicity stunt, graffiti artist KR will spray paint a Mini Cooper, possibly with one of his overpriced limited edition fire extinguishers. A sloppier version of BMW’s “1970s artist commissions,” the commercial car wash will take place as part of an exhibition of the ink entrepreneur’s drippy artwork at Vicious Gallery in Hamburg, Germany next week.

Obama Art Website Gets Bound Up

After Shepard Fairey’s “Art for Obama” comes “Design for Obama,” a book of posters for the president. The “grassroots anthology” features a Spike Lee-curated collection of images drawn from the submissions to its eponymous website: “Do the Right Thing”-inspired pieces, variations on Shepard Fairey’s image of “Hope,” as well as a bizarre Obama tramp stamp. Taschen books will release the title next week, but until then you can browse the uncurated contents online.

Dan Aykroyd Ain’t Afraid Of No Ghost

Noted ghostbuster Dan Ackroyd was on the Today Show this morning with his father Peter to be interviewed the insanely annoying Al Roker. The two are promoting a book by Peter titled, A History of Ghosts: The True Story of Séances, Mediums, Ghosts, and Ghostbusters, and, as evidenced in the clip below, they’re both probably insane. Artists Strike Back At NPA Using NPA Worker

Art duo SERF & MINT and Pablo Powers spotted a NPA worker gleefully ripping down the artwork they installed for the New York Street Advertising Takeover yesterday in Little Italy and decided to embrace the wheatpasting vandal. How? By snapping a photo of him, adding a “Buff Bum” caption, printing it up at Kinko’s and then reinstalling it back on the billboard, after clearing out the newly pasted ads of course. As MINT jokingly notes, “it’s beef.”

R.M. Fischer Cuts, Sews and Stuffs Sculptures

Eschewing the structures and utility of earlier public installations and lighting displays, R.M. Fischer unveiled a series of new, softer sculpture. The New York-based artist’s latest work see his mechanical contraption bound with cartoon-like appendages: “cut-and-sewn parts suggesting body parts, tattooed, pierced, and adorned with metal amulets,” as well as “the artist’s multiplications of orifices, tongues, and other fetishes.” Fischer’s solo exhibition opens October 29th through December 19th at KS Art, 73 Leonard Street.

Mysterious ‘Monster Shark’ Instilling Fear In Australian Hearts

Officials in Australia are on the lookout for a real life Jaws after fisherman found another great white shark that was practically bitten in half off the coast of Queensland. They believe the “monster shark” is at least 20-feet long and could still be out there “lurking,” ready to swallow people whole. Watch the terrifying news report below. Read more »
