Parting Shot: There’s No Such Thing As East Williamsburg

bushwick

Skewville installed this striking “Bushwick” sign on Morgan Avenue that’s not only a service to the disoriented, but also a solid argument in the never ending neighborhood name debates.

  2. brooklynchimp

sorta cheesy, but good intentions i guess.

  3. gackatta

    But what about Montrose Ave?

  4. Park slope guy

That's right. And stop referring to Greenwood Heights as "South Park Slope" in your Craigslist ads. You're not fooling anyone. ["You" referring to certain Craigslist posters.]

If there's an "East Williamsburg", it's around the Lorimer stop. Montrose is Bushwick.

  5. montrose guy

East of bushwick ave is bushwick, west is east williamsburg in my opinion. So Montrose is either depending on which way you walk out of the station.

This sign (actually on Bogart st.) is in "Brooklyn Community District 1" which was annexed by Wiilliamsburg in 1835 as The Third District of the Village of Williamsburg 93rd Ward). Its original eastern border was Newton creek 3 blocks to the east & is now recognized as "East Williamsburg In-Place Industrial Park". So yes this is Technically East Williamsburg.

Sorry Assoles you're just as terrible as everyone on Bedofrd Ave.
