Fans of Tracy Morgan Offended by Tracy Morgan Being Tracy Morgan

On Friday night Tracy Morgan performed a stand-up comedy show at a sold-out Carnegie Hall, which was apparently filled with people who knew very little about Tracy Morgan’s act going into the show, as many of them fled the building when they became offended by Morgan’s “unspeakably filthy” act. C’mon people, really?! This is a guy whose first tweet ever was about his cock’s resemblance to Star Wars characters!

Can’t you just see some moneyed uptown broad getting her monthly Carnegie Hall subscription letter, turning to her aristocratic husband and saying, “Oh look, the funny black man from the television is performing…we should take in his performance.” Yeah, well, they obviously has no idea what they were getting into.

“People seemed to not be laughing at his jokes, but more because they were shocked and appalled with what was coming out of his mouth,” reports one audience member. Morgan talked trash about homosexuality (saying it’s “a choice,” which drew gasps), drugs, pornography and what he calls “politricks” — far edgier subjects than what his alter ego, Jordan, gets air time for.

“There was a continuous flow of people getting up and leaving throughout the show,” our spy reports, adding that many in the crowd clearly didn’t know what they were getting themselves into. Middle-aged women were the most flabbergasted when he started mimicking explicit sex acts on stage.

When Morgan found something shocking, he held onto it for minutes on end.

Beautiful. Well done Tracy.

  1. This is AWESOME! There is nothing better than when poor swimmers wade too deep in the comedy pool.

Tracy Morgan must be loving this: the fact that he elicited genuine outrage. Anyone who rocks a shirt emblazoned with the Warhol-ed image of 'Ol Dirty Bastard', while performing at Carnegie Hall, would.

i was there..he was brilliant..anyone who has been a longtime fan knew what to expect. i just didnt think he would close the show with his "first love" story. an older couple sitting 3 rows in front of me …both well into their 70s..stuck around for the whole show..so it couldnt have been that bad

I saw his stand-up act about two years ago, and remember observing that about 35% of the audience were in their 50s or so. I was pretty sure they didn't know what they were in for, expecting Tracy to be just a charming version of his 30 Rock character. And I was right; they certainly didn't know. Watching them squirm was almost as fun as his show.

Carnegie Hall is my favorite venue in the city. I don't know Tracy's material but I'm sorry I missed his show. Sounds like it was great!
