Poor Oreo. First, the pit bull survives getting tossed off a building in June by its asshole owner. Then she underwent surgery to reconstruct her front legs with plates and screws. And now, after being physically rehabilitated by the ASPCA for the past few months, the dog is facing a certain death. Wait…what? Apparently she’s got some bad temperament issues. Wouldn’t you still be a little jaded

The animal welfare agency says the dog is way too pissed off to be adopted or hang around other dogs and has to die. This of course caused a flurry of phone calls, emails and even demonstrators in front of the group’s headquarters in Manhattan to protest this afternoon’s scheduled execution. An animal sanctuary that will probably even sign a waiver, has agreed to take the dog in, but still the ASPCA has yet to grant Oreo amnesty. I guess killing is the new humane. |City Room|

UPDATE: An ASPCA spokesperson contacted Gothamist to inform them that Oreo was indeed euthanized. They claim they never heard of the animal sanctuary that opted to take the dog and decided to kill it instead. RIP Oreo!
