Perhaps people who do not resemble the Huxtables are outside of his experience. During my social work employ in the 90s one of the caseworkers had a virgin 5 year old HIV positive client. Neither of the parents were HIV positive. The family suspected an uncle but at the time could not prove it. Another client was a 12 year-old boy who tried to commit suicide when he discovered he was a product of incest. One NIH person told me that a high profile national African American organization turned down substantial funding to study AIDS/HIV because, as they explained, it was not a problem in their community. During that same time period African American females were the fastest growing new HIV/AIDS population.
