I love the droll "Rrrrrrreeeeaaaallly?" It really is as if no one has ever told these guys no in, well, years. To be fair, the point of all this grandstanding is mostly to much things up and slow the process, so using procedural votes to grind it down is an effective use of the rules.
I’m often in agreement with your posts, but on this one I’m afraid I’m not. Yes, that means that I’m siding with McCain for the first and likely only time in my life.
It’s rude and unprofessional to deny an additional minute or so. It didn’t sound like Lieberman was on a tirade or being otherwise outrageous. A request for more time for a statement like that is a formality, and it’s usually granted without thought or question. Franken’s refusal just makes him look like an immature noob.

John McCain did the exact same thing to a member of congress. He is being disingenuous.
But as Think Progress pointed out, McCain certainly had seen it happen before — and in fact had perpetrated it in 2002, when he lodged an objection and thus denied extra time to then-Sen. Mark Dayton (D-MN) during debate on the Iraq War.

Don't really care very much about this but i agree that the statement that Joe Lieberman is the worst human asshole on the planet is over kill. McCain should have kept his mouth shut and Lieberman as well. If you don't like it wait until your party has control and do the same thing to him. As for Al, only MIN would elect an actor…o wait…CA lol. I think he will end up being the Palin of the Dems if he keeps this up. Really shouldn't have some joke objecting to a real representative…let your more experienced colleagues do this for you. O…and we need a real third party. Don't kid yourself, the only reason for the health care bill is for keeping people dependent on the Dems just like creating a war to keep the Reps in power. Secondly. I must say not granting an extra minute to let him close is very unprofessional and if the roles were reveresed would Fraken be happy with it?
Last but not least I work for a small business and the people that wish to have heathcare really are not informed people. I spoke with my boss and several other small business owners that I know, and the reply was always the same nobody will work more than 30 hours a week to prevent having to be taxed more, thus people such as myself will have to get second jobs. Not to mention what it will do to the nation, when has the government gotten it right?? lets see Social Security? Nope Mediacare and Mediacaid ? Nope, maintaining a budget? Nope.
Everybody see the trend? Government interference= More Taxes and a weakened dollar

Al Franken is a joke just like Arnold Schwarzenegger. He’s very disrespectful and knows nothing about appropriate etiquette of the Senate. Poor Al, he’s doing his best.
