Late last night ABC published a photograph of the underwear worn by al Qaeda cock-bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab when he tried to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight over Detroit. So the question remains…if the we all have to take our shoes off at the airport because one dude tried to blow up a plane with explosives held in his shoes, how much are we going to have to disrobe now? |ABC|

Years ago I worked in the surveillance and security industry, doing product development. One of the most interesting projects I got to work on was through wall imaging systems. These were ultrasound based technologies. Essentially, you could look through 12-18 inches of concrete using ultrasound, to get a situational awareness of events inside a room/ building.
This same technology was actually co-opted from through clothing imaging systems developed to peek under your garments, and if they choose to do so, inside your stomach. This system is now being used in about 40 airports in America, and soon to be all of them.

I should not, the long term goal was to develop satellite based systems, although that sounds technically impossible, look how far we've come already.
