faro-avoid-bloke-2012-factory-fresh1Celebrating their one-year anniversary this weekend, Factory Fresh in Bushwick opens “2012,” a group exhibition by artists AVOID, BLOKE, and FARO. Known for their imaginative letter styles, iconic characters, as well as giant spraypaint and fire extinguisher tag on the street, the trio moves indoors to build on apocalyptic visions for the end of the Mayan calendar. While it remains to be seen how these artists render these prophesies, their collective work is billed as a transition in the art world: a “changing of the guard” bringing the disciplines of graffiti and street art into greater alignment, though some would prefer they didn’t.

The show opens from 7 to 10 PM on June 5th and is on view through June 21 at 1053 Flushing Avenue. See a gallery of the artists’ public paintings below.
