The Daily Mail is reporting that Banksy’s illegal IKEA piece was cut down and trucked away to save it from further vandalism. Strangely, the newspaper fails to mention that this enthusiastic street art rescue happened three weeks ago, instead describing it as only taking place a couple days earlier.
The incredibly tardy report does however offer new insight into the preservation attempt, naming “Nick Loizou, a 30-year-old graphic designer and builder, and Bradley Ridge, a 31-year-old restaurateur,” as the masterminds spending thousands of dollars in hopes of restoring the work and flipping it. Renowned for their misreporting on the reclusive millionaire street artist, the Daily Mail also shares Ridge’s dubious claim that “Banksy himself has given his blessing to the project through an intermediary, saying: ‘Well done and good luck.’” |Daily Mail|
