In promotion of their book on the city’s disappearing storefronts, photographers Jim & Karla Murray are opening MOM & POPism, a mixed media installation featuring over a dozen streets artists embellishing a selection of realistic-looking retail panels. Curated by sticker-happy street artist Billi Kid and set on the rooftop of Gawker headquarters—of all places—the gossipy multimillion dollar media empire is hosting the special event, an offshoot of their ongoing remant ad space for artists program. An invite-only reception is being held tonight, but it won’t officially open to the public until Saturday, August 15.
