After serving more than three decades in prison, the woman who tried to assassinate President Gerald Ford and failed has been released. In 1975, Lynette ‘Squeaky’ Fromme dressed like a nun and pulled out a .45 Colt semi-automatic pistol on Ford, but couldn’t blast him because there were no rounds in the chamber—total amateur. In addition to her presidential aspirations, Fromme was a dedicated member of the Manson Family and proved to be far deadlier with a piece of fruit than she was with a gun:

When U.S. Attorney Duane Keyes recommended severe punishment because she was “full of hate and violence,” Fromme threw an apple at him, hitting him in the face and knocking off his glasses.
