While many anti-graffiti advocates speak of the writing on the wall as a figurative disease, few do so literally. A new ad campaign in the London borough of Hounslow features a local teenage girl, her face covered in tags like a rash, and the slogan “Sick of graffiti? We’ve got the cure.†Besides encouraging residents to report graffiti to police, officials hope the ad prompts would-be vandals to lay down their paint after they consider the horrible impact of their work. However, since most writers tag walls not people, this girl’s vandalized face is unlikely to inspire a truce.
