To announce that Africa’s digital satellite TV service DStv now offers The Simpsons on channel Bué in Angola, ad agency Executive Center in Luanda, Angola decided to, uh, re-culturize America’s most famous TV family. For comparison purposes, here’s the original shot. This Simpson’s aficionado has several questions. What’s with the huge honkin’ speakers? What strange brew is Homer drinking? Was this illustration cleared by Matt Groening/Fox lawyers? My favorite details are the cool threads on Homie and Marge, and the replacement of the shitty sailboat painting (which inspired Marge’s romance novel) by a Serengeti elephant scene. |Image: AdsOfTheWorld|

Couldn't they have left Marge's hair blue?
@ Dave: Glad that there's attention to detail, but how do you explain the speakers?
Lisa’s head has a strange shape.
Homer is drinking a Cuca, the Budweiser of Angola. Bart has one of the ubiquitous Angolan Flag T-Shirts, and for some reason the dog looks happy and healthy, unlike the mangy two-legged monsters that roam the streets of Luanda.
If this image was created by a team in Angola then Matt G/the Fox lawyers didn’t approve this. Most ‘new’ Simpsons artwork comes straight from the source, i.e. Matt and his direct team of illustrators. Also Homer’s head is violating a couple of Simpsons style guide rules. Homer always has hair, no matter what.
That said, this is awesome!
WOW! your website have the great information about animal.I'm sure I will be back agian.
As an Angolan I feel flattered. It is not everyday that you being selected out 53 countries in Africa to represent one of the most dearly loved American family “The Simpsonsâ€
Do not forget ITCHY and SCRATCHY, I would like to see them in action, preferable in relation with Angola social issues, eg. Police vs Bandits, crocks vs honest people, Politicians vs people, so on and so forth.
