For some fans, Michael Jackson’s death is apparently too much to bear. A dozen devotees have allegedly killed themselves since last Thursday, according to the founder of an online fan club for the now departed pop performer. Gary Taylor of MJJcommunity.com says, “Michael Jackson would never want this. He would want them to live.” In a recent video, Reverend Jesse Jackson responds to reports of seven fan suicides, saying:

This is a time when hearts are heavy. There is great pain but great cause to celebrate Michael’s life. We celebrate Michael’s life by creating futures not funerals….It made Michael happy saying ‘We Are The World’. Don’t self destruct….We fall down sometimes, we get back up….That’s the right thing to do…. In Michael’s name let’s live together as brothers and sisters and not die apart as fools.

It’s also reported that a Tunisian fan took her life, and that Russian Michael Jackson impersonator Pável Talaláyev attempted suicide by slitting his wrists. After he was rescued, Talaláyev said, “I don’t know why the doctors saved me. I want to be with Michael, and I will kill myself anyway.”
