After whitewashing SABER’s massive LA River piece, contractors for the US Army Corps of Enginers have begun painting over a giant MTA roller nearby. Measuring “57 feet high and one-third of a mile long,†the Metro Transit Assassins piece is being eradicated with nearly a million dollars of economic stimulus funding oddly allocated for sprucing up the glorified drainage ditch. LA authorities claim it took “up to 40 taggers,†to paint the three letters, most of whom weren’t arrested in the LAPD roundup of alleged MTA members earlier this year. |CBS 13|

booooooooooooooooooooo!
curious why it will take a 'million' dollars to clean that up.
doesn't feel like it cost MTA a million bucks to roller it out in the first place.
90% of that is white paint. wouldn't MORE white paint in the other 10% be around $100-200? and if forty people work, and i'm sure it will be community service "workers", they'd be done with it in two days max. the 1 million dollar price-tag on this is a scam.
Now I see why I was getting hits on this picture I took. Will be retaking it in a few days.
that doesn't look like it's 1/3rd of a mile long. but still – damn.
i'm sure the one million will be spent for the entire LA water ditch, not just this one piece
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MTA_los_angeles… wikipedia coming through with a pretty solid photo of this piece
Great use of money *rolls eyes
And here I thought "MTA" stood for Municipal Transit Authority — which I see on all the buses around here.
this is reall stupid, they did not spend 1,000,000 bucks on thar roller!
