The Roots, Hip Hop’s reigning provocateurs of cool (and Jimmy Fallon’s house band), seek qualified actors for an “awesome” music video for their single “How I Got Over.” Thugs, Hasidics, Old Latino men, sleazy whites, and, most notably, wheelchair-bound black adolescents—your big break is just a casting call away. Now, the new single (and album of the same name) is billed as a celebratory, inspirational album, broken off from the Mahalia Jackson gospel song with the same title.
We assume the wheelchair-bound boy is the centerpiece for this video, unless, of course, the director has a more absurdist vision involving the the under-appreciated, quiet triumph of an Old Latino Man and his sleazy white teenage entourage. But, as the casting call, specifies, they’re looking for a “real paraplegic” to play the lead, but they are willing to settle for a young boy who has use of his legs who is extremely wheelchair proficient, which is, in itself, truly inspired. An interesting discussion is worth comment. I feel that you should write extra on this topic, it may not be a taboo topic but generally individuals are not enough to talk on such topics. To the next. Cheers
