poster5_454 Using a time tested formula straight out of Shepard Fairey’s graphic design playbook, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws also borrowed an image of Barack Obama, transformed it into new art, and pissed off the photographer who took it. College classmate Lisa Jack shot the photo when Obama was still a freshman and isn’t so happy about the drug law reforming group using it as their badly designed 2009 conference poster. Unaware of the appropriation till the Washington Post brought it to her attention, the Minnesota professor said she would have whored it out a long time ago, but those weren’t her motivations, telling the paper, “I really made a grand effort to do this properly, and I’m very irritated. If I’d wanted these to be used for political purposes, I’d have sold them to Hillary years ago.” |WashingtonPost|
