Some East Village graffiti by FARO has prompted a NYPD hate crimes investigation reports NY1. Police are reportedly looking into a piece which features a swastika (and an upside down cross). Building owner Alan Rabunski was upset after discovering the spray painted work on the side of his building, noting the “ingenuity, preparation, planning and also intent” it must have required.
Although the writer’s motivation is unknown, vandals routinely employ ancient symbols and many writers who use swastikas aren’t doing it to be anti-Semetic. But Rabunski wouldn’t know that and sees it different: “[I]t is pernicious, it’s hateful and people ought to see it and be aware that this exists.” |NY1|

Honestly people are stupid.
Two seconds into a little research I found the meaning.
One. – the swastika is considered by many cultures and the sun symbol.
Two – 88 constellations or one known as the cross or crux its name is Latin for cross, and it is dominated by a cross-shaped asterism that is commonly known as the Southern Cross because since the time of Christ it has been easily visible from the southern hemisphere.
you know i did more research…
the upside cross can mean "peters Cross" in which many groups consider it to be used by satanist basically inverting christianity.
So in that case the swastika could be used with the upside down cross as hate speech against Jews and Christians. Probably not the best time to notice it during jewish high holy week.
who knows.
Throw in a swatztika and mediocre graff gets more attention than deserved. Where's the "F"?
The backwards swastika still used widely in Buddism, not past tense.
But this is not backwards…
this is not faro but FAROUT, two different writers. this article just fueling a mistaken identity.
some one already mentioned that couple days before , but i noticed the bloggers deleted it !!!!
this graffiti piece CLEARLY say FAR out , not faro .
this is falls advertisement and it is wrong and it needs to be changed.
Who's fueling what? Only you commenters.
